Is it worth BUYING TM2?

Post by kiara »

Ive been playing TM1 for more then 5 or 7 years (starting to loose interesting in keeping dates).. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment with intense interest and close experience driving on TM.

[The Mechanics that makes TM, TM ]---

In my own opinion I always loved Stadium as it had a particular flare to it that you where always feeling in ''control'' of your car especially if it was driving for time, challenging other peoples times driving the same track over and over in hopes to be better then some of your friends or enemies.. good times! This controlled feeling is a type of flow that brings you to an understanding of how the feeling and flow of your car's handling can suddenly become a mechanical form. The kind of form that creates pure disbelief when you can ''feel'' how perfect you have driven but not perfect enough to get that extra 00:00:20 seconds to beet that show off guy in the goofy modded custom car... I also think the kind of constructed tracks on stadium also created a ''Unique known'' feeling eg, wallrides, loops, certain bumpy road that helps you drift around a bend up ahead combining all this to controle the player into how its car will be sliding or giving it a ''technical challenge''...

[ Is it worth to buy the game?? ]---

About a year ago I saw a Video of Nadeo at a convention launching their concept of mania planet and how great they think it is..I think you guys did a good job on the graphics... yeah, nice cars have damage.. cant be arsed about that...but asking some people before tm2 came out, what do they think of all the other types of games to offer on TM1.. allot of people seemed to like stadium for the top described reason... Now for the new players to Mania Planet IF you reading this... if you didnt like all the other games and loved Staduim.. I think you will feel like you wasted your money..I tested this game.. at 1st I liked the feeling but it wasnt Stadium.. you dont feel in ''controle'' mite I add looks in a game is not everything... I know new players are still strugeling to build tracks on TM2.. but I always feel like I am playing pinball with the roads. Its like people never really ''can'' make something fun and interesting with the building system of the other TM games provided.. and I feel the same for TM2... staduim is not there... for all I care you guys could have run a graphic patch on TM1... Added MANIA planet as another sub catagory ..

--KEEP ALL THE GAMES TOGETHER... STEAM did it..Halflife, Halflife 2 and all the other games... cause people still likes to play the old stuff. NADEO singled out their market now... its all down to one feeling where in TM1, everyone was entitled to choose their own tipe of race feeling they prefared... so even if you argue against me... you cannot disagree that the mania market is all down to one type of play..Bay, Coast what ever those things where.. I never liked them... and that all you are left to play with..Lets just say I dont pay 25 USD for it... I would be definitely disappointed. :0010

I think there are now enough movies and pictures and comments around so you can get a impression.
This is one more

Don't you know someone who owns Canyon so you can drive yourself?
This is a question everyone should ask before possibly buying ;)

If you like the American desert style, race tracks, and some fancy tracks including wallrides and loopings,
then you should grab it.
Not all the maps are crazy, you just have to find a nice server

If you just don't want to pay, then stay with TMNF and the dirty Stadium :roflol:

Step 1: Stop using apostrophes for emphasis
Step 2: Buy Canyon

I miss platform mode and dislike the car damage. It's obvious why I miss platform mode, was the most interesting mode available. I don't like the car damage because it does nothing except make what I see uglier. Also, its annoying when I'm trying to time a corner perfectly and my hood flies off and obscures my view for a brief second. Overall I dislike it because the game looks so much cleaner/smoother without it. At the very least I would like to see it become optional.

Multiplayer annoys the living hell out of me because there are so many menus over the screen. Then you get obnoxious people telling you to get a bigger screen, even though your already on 1080p. As if you need 10 different top 10s staring at you the entire time. Face it, the menus are ridiculously over done.

Otherwise its pretty fun. Somewhat minor issues, nothing major.

The gameplay is decent, going back to United all the cars feel super twitchy. I've become accustomed to how the new car handles and enjoy it more than previous titles. Although there are many times in Canyon I think "WTF" when the car goes off in seemingly random directions when I barely scrap a wall. I think the physics have some really screwy moments. Also, loops are annoying, just flat out not fun to race through. I think they toned down some of the wackier things that previous titles did. It lacks some of the personality that previous titles had, the quirkyness and variety of the different track types is gone. But overall thats to be expected with only a single track type.

Not Nadeo's best, but overall a good pickup if your a TM fan.

It is just like a easier version of nations, with some more stuff added in the car which makes it more entertaining(higher acceleration, you "never" get noslides etc). And it still has some modes from united, like official mode in solo(which has also been improved).

I think you are spot on there, I find that many of the tracks have a very similar feel to them, and its difficult (as a track editor) to make that very different given the limited tarck blocks (although apparently there are new ones in construction).

I've commented on this game afew times so I'm not going to cover 'old ground' that I've already mentioned. TM2 is getting better with each new patch/update that comes out but it still has a long way to go before the 'playability' matches or surpasses that of TMUF (I won't put TMNF because the number of users is inflated because of it's 'free' status(... still the best game bargain on the planet tho )) In saying that, I mean that I wouldn't buy any other environments until Canyon has become more user-friendly, which in turn would increase my useage of TM2 from the mere 5% of gaming time that I use it at the moment.

YES it is!

It is not the same, of course. But that doesn't mean it's worse. Actually I like it even more!
