[TM2][Connection] You are not online?! http error 6026

I have just bought and installed Trackmania 2. Upon launching I receive the message:

"http error 6026"

after pressing ok, it says:

"You are not online
You will not be able to connect to an account and use all the game features. We recommend you connect to the internet now."

And that is as far as the games will let me get. I am connected to the internet, my firewall is configured correctly and I have tried to reinstall the game. I have been looking forward to play this, and having paid money for the game, this is quite frustrating. Any help is apprechiated.

Can you try to deactivate your firewall and antivirus?

I tried that... made no difference.
