Hey!
I read somewhere "that maybe this game will have the place in esports". Nowdays there're aren't so much competitive fps games, because they were made to profit. There're CS (1.6 and Source), Cod (2 and 4) and TF2... Not so much, and these are old games. I believe that competitive gaming is the highest level that anyone can play a game. These players can send much more feedbacks, and can help easily.
But in fps games there're some important function to name it a competitive game. If there's a missing part, it won't work. So my ideas:
- Easy demo recording.
- TV to watch games (and record TV's demo too).
- Console.
- Easy to set up and run dedicated servers.
- Have some kind of tournament mod/function.
- Small random factor.
- Skill orientation. So i mean the aim isn't so important, but if there's a could player who know the map and some in-game trick, he must win 10 times while the worse player win only once.
- In-game voice.
- A new player can easily reach the old ones skill level if he has volition, determination and brain of course. ^^
Cheers!

Something like the replay function in TM?PozitiveRP wrote:- Easy demo recording
I would bet that there will be a relay function, like it is in TM.PozitiveRP wrote:TV to watch games (and record TV's demo too).
For what do you need a console? I haven't played many FPS lately, so i don't know what you mean with that.PozitiveRP wrote:- Console.
Will be given, if you take a look at how easy it is to set up a dedicated server in TM.PozitiveRP wrote:- Easy to set up and run dedicated servers.
Gamemodes can be coded directly into the game with maniascript.PozitiveRP wrote:- Have some kind of tournament mod/function.
I would say a random factor shouldn't be there. The game should simply be won by the player/team which has the highest skill.PozitiveRP wrote:- Small random factor.

This is maybe important for shooter games on a console, but on the PC you have so much alternatives (skype/ventrillo/TS etc.). It would be nice to have this function, but i doubt that it will be integrated in the game.PozitiveRP wrote:- In-game voice.
As it is in TM =)PozitiveRP wrote:- A new player can easily reach the old ones skill level if he has volition, determination and brain of course. ^^
And of course, i would like it to see another nadeo title will get a place in the esports scene.
Re: [ShootMania] Competitive Game
I am not sure if a console is useful, first there are also options like mapchange or kick in the menu in TM. But also, things you can change with it in other games, can be changed with ManiaScript (well, I guess that it's like that cause you can build gamemodes with it)
Re: [ShootMania] Competitive Game
I completly agree with the in-game voice function because this is very cool to have fun with your friend or with strangers on a server and to talk to them. And also, when the in-game voice chat is set to only team, it can become very very easy to do strategies with strangers very easily. Also, for TS, Vent, Skype, etc. not everyone can have those and I don't talk because I don't know these and I think their're not free. I know they are. But not everyone can download everything they want on their computer.
Also, not everyone can afford servers on TS and Vent, or know some servers.
Voilà .

YES. If shootmania is to really take off in the MP scene, it MUST have integrated voicechat. I'm sure Nadeo has some sort of plan for this or something similar already to relay squad commands, but just simply using standard text chat in the heat of battle to communicate something is a sure way to get shot.

I was thinking about talking on micrphone for nolifers that want to tell someone something, faster! But it will happen exactly like CS:S

Why are you calling me a nolifer CrAzYdrIv3r? Because I have a microphone?
Kidding
But anyway what happen in CS:S? Nothing bad! And you can decide if you only talk to your team or to everyone (I mean when you own the server you decide that for everyone)
And much more, you can do a voice-chat more elaborate. Like if there subs-squads, you have like 3 buttons to talks. One to your squad, one to your team and one to everyone. And the admins decide which one are enable on their servers.
That could be awesome. I personally love in-game voice chat because it'S easy to do strategies with strangers and to have fun with strangers (when this is not a very competitive server).

Re: [ShootMania] Competitive Game
The more complex, the better for me. I love being able to micromanage everything.
For example, there's a game called X3 that's a space combat sim, and in it, you have menus that you can literally do anything you want with your ship. Tractor beams, weapons configurations, comms, everything is on-screen in translucent menus, just like a real space-fighter cockpit (if there was such a thing). I'd like to be able to have something like that with SM, maybe. If it's gonna be an FPS, have a big-scale HUD with things like health, ammo remaining, squad position, communications, actions, etc. Like, maybe if a buddy near you is under fire, something pops up on your screen rather than having him wait to tell you.

And for Trackmaniack, I think one mode you have all the HUD but there is like an «hardcore» mode (like CoD) where you have nothing unless you have special abilities. Like when you're a medic or something like that you can choose the ability to see almost dead friend on a radar. So you can go help them before they die.
