Dedimania / ManiaRecords

After some confusing questions from clan members, we've discovered two different global record systems seem to be operating now. Dedimania and ManiaRecords.

I kept getting asked why people were seeing records on ManiaExchange that weren't appearing as Dedi's on our servers. I assume ManiaExchange is using ManiaRecords?

Are any of these "official" Nadeo TM sites, or are they all just community created ones?
Are there any plans for collaboration to combine record systems or anything?

Sry... Saw this when you posted, but figured there'd be a dozen others that would have answered first..

Basically, when TM2 went to public beta I guess Slig hadn't integrated support yet. Understandably, he had to worry about FAST support first, and I'm fairly certainly it's a one man show. But given even a few days not having a global records system, somebody else in the community took it upon themselves to create an alternative; sort of like a few years back when TMX went down for little more than a few days -- seemed like mere hours before an alternative came out (umm... ShareMania..?). But, Dedimania support for TM2 is now available (though limited in some ways -- still no online recs display).

Comparing the two... ManiaRecords came out first, and having been integrated into MX it's gained a bit of clout already in TM2. But -- it has absolutely no authentication required, and doesn't seem to require any checks/validations for times. Sure, Dedimania used to have these problems too -- until cheating became rampant, and I sort of threatened to release a script to allow anybody to register whatever time they wanted on any given track..

But more than anything, once TM2 really gets going I imagine ManiaRecords will collapse under it's own popularity.. Slig currently spends craploads each month keeping the DM database going, a burden I'm sure not many will be willing to bear.

IMHO, I plan on running ManiaRecords until it starts showing signs of wavering... In a perfect world, we'd see both projects merging -- Slig and Xymph have the management end down solid, while MR has worked out a much more intuitive web interface.

Edit: Oh, and as far as being official.. AFAIK, practically all TM community sites operate completely independent of Nadeo, though a few community 'stars' like Slig have some clout when dealing with the devs.

Both are on MX actually (btw MR records are shown by default, as you said they came first)
