Suggestion/Question: Simple-ish auto-MT script?
So, I had a random thought for the skilled coders out there, if anybody's looking for something to do with Maniascript.
Is it feasible to create a script that would quickly throw together some automated camera moves? When you break it down, basically, there are two types of camera moves, ones that are anchored to a car, and ones that -target- a car. That, of course, is the basic idea of my script...it would take some variables you input (max. distance from the car, direction of movement, maybe) and create a camera move for it. This would be good for people completely new to MT that are feeling overwhelmed by it all, or someone that wants to throw a quick-and-dirty replay together, just to see how things look...

Re: Suggestion/Question: Simple-ish auto-MT script?
I want an automated GPS script, one click done. Should not be too difficult I guess

Re: Suggestion/Question: Simple-ish auto-MT script?
I think both ideas are impossible:
1. Making an automated camera with some fixed/generated parameters would most likely result in a camerapath going through objects on the track (could only be fixed if you included block placement in the calculation of the camera path which would be insanely difficult imo, if possible at all). Setting an endless default camera (or nothing at all) is the way to go if you dont want to screw around with camera settings.
2. Automated GPS is also not possible since creating it includes making a ghost which definitly cannot be generated automatically. If you make it without ghost it might be possible with autogen tracks. On all other tracks a script could never calculate the route of the track.

There is no official documentation about the Maniascript out yet ...
So, the only features I know about the Mediatracker Maniascripts are, that you can change the camera position and rotation relative to the current Position. (The scripts get activated when hitting the maiascript-trigger blog). However, i don't know any functions like loading ghosts, placing trigger blocks at runtime, getting the block on which the car is at the moment, ...
I don't really understand your first question. What do you mean? Changing the cam automatically when entering a loop? Changing the camera view form 3d person to internal etc. is already possible with the camera-race triggerblock.

But isn't a ghost recorded when you validate a track ? or I am wrongKeras wrote:Automated GPS is also not possible since creating it includes making a ghost which definitly cannot be generated automatically. That's because that's all there is. Only moving the camera relatively to the actual camera position. Cou cannot get any data from ghosts or blocks, you can't even get the current position or angle.krial057 wrote:There is no official documentation about the Maniascript out yet ...

Both scripts are impossible. And if there were such scripts, the results would be so bad that the scripts wouldn't contribute to success anyway.
