Complacent Gamer Syndrome, people. Especially in a down economy, what's the first thing to go? "Extras". Like games.
Unfortunately true mate

But here's the thing. Yes, Maniaplanet, all told, is going to have a fairly hefty price tag, for all 9 environments. But it's only a few people, relatively speaking, that will buy all 9. I know I will, because I want to support Nadeo financially, and I'm a big Mania-nut

But when SM comes out, how many people do you think are just going to buy that? And not any of the TMs? Because they're shooter-nuts, but they don't go so much for the racing? So there's that. And dedicated RPGers will drool over QM, but not either of the others. And already, some people that I've talked to are comparing TM to "Forza, but cooler".

So we'll have some people that buy subsets, and then, to get even more specialized, specific environments within those three games. For example, a gamer might like Canyon and SM Storm, but not buy any other environments. So, there are lots of ways for gamers to get a specialized experience tailored to them for a very reasonable price. Also, a bit off-topic, but something I just thought of: Maniaplanet is a bit like TMU, in a sense. Instead of releasing everything at once, like they did with the previous TMs, they've got all of the new Maniaplanet titles under the Maniaplanet engine, which is going to be tweaked and upgraded with the release of each game. So, if I'm right in my (limited) perceptions, Maniaplanet may be the true "Forever", because it will be able to be upgraded and added on to indefinitely.
