Dragged Camera
Is there a way (in media tracker) to create a camera that is dragged behind the car? Similar to the Helicopter camera but not locked facing the same direction, so it follows the car and stays at a fixed height.

Re: Dragged Camera
Use Camera custom for this

- When in replay or MT editor, create a new track/block (Do this by clicking the "+" button)
- Now choose Camera custom from the popup list
- 1. Click on the start keyframe (the yellow dot on the left side of the red bar), 2. set Anchor to "Local player", 3. mark off AnchorRot [x], and 4. set Interpolation to either Hermite or Linear Now you can place the cam at every angle you want to. The cam will follow the car's movements exactly with these options. :)
- To make the cam stay unchanged until the bar ends, click on the end keyframe (the yellow dot on the right side of the bar), and hold Ctrl while left-clicking on the start keyframe.

Re: Dragged Camera
Wow, thanks. Excellent job explaining. I apreciate the effort you put into that. However it's not quite what I was after. Imagine a camera mounted to a kite being pulled behind the car. I know you can get that effect the way you have described in the replay editor but I'm wanting to use this in an "End Race" replay where the exact path of the car is unknown. I was thinking like "Camera Path" with a fixed height and minimum and maximum distance to car variables so the the camera is pulled behind as if on a string.

Re: Dragged Camera
That'd be much harder to do
With a real "kite" effect, the cam should be closer to the car the slower it goes. It may be possible, but i haven't done such cameras so i don't know how to work it off ^^
Sorry to not be of help but it's kinda late too - hope you can get a better answer then

Re: Dragged Camera
Thanks again. I suspect that maybe in scripting I could limit the max distance from the camera to the car but I haven't explored scripting that much yet and don't know what variables can be manipulated. I thought the "Helicopter Camera" would kind of drag behind the car but it really is less effective than locking the camera to the car.
