Install skins from carpark

Hi, im new at TM2 and im wondering how to install other car models from http://www.trackmania-carpark.com/. I've done it on TM1, but when i do the same, "putting the zip files in
C:\Users\"Username"\Documents\ManiaPlanet\Skins\Vehicles\CanyonCar
on TM2 they just show up as the standard car, but with different skin. Not the actual new car model.
Can someone please explain how to install a new car model ?
Like a TM1 car for example:

I found it stupid how we cant drive the TM1 cars in TM2, seriously

TM1 have tons of awesome cars and we cant drive any on canyon!

It really bugs me that you can no longer use TMU models in TM2.
I had a NASCAR stock car model from TMU in TM2 for quite a while until suddenly
the game was updated and I could no longer use it. This is really inconvenient. x_X

The reason is because TM2 cars have damage models. TMUF cars don't.
