What you are talking about is this think here,the new feature of ManiaPub.

You can now advertise on ManiaPub ! For now, we placed billboards in the following menus:

• Multiplayer menu
• Create Multiplayer Server menu
• Local Play menu
• Editors menu
• Profile menu

But to be honest, this is utterly bull. I paid for a game. Not for an advertising platform. I mean, it's good that they can do adds in the ManiaHome section. But what the hell has this to do with the local play section? If i want to be connected to the online features i go th the online section of the game. If i'm playing offline (e.g sitting in my profile menu, playing solo maps, ordering my replays/maps, build maps), then i don't care whish players invested the most planets to get his ad there. This is simply a no go.
There needs to be a "turn it off" button for this bull. I mean, no goes into my bedroom and places a big ad on my window. This is an invasion of privacy.

I don't really think of ManiaPub as advertising (even though the Nadeo guys used that language). It's not really a way for people to make money. And it's not about unrelated stuff. It's all about TrackMania. And it's apparently a great way to promote events or ManiaLinks, etc.

It's hard enough to find out what things are going on around the TM-verse. If ManiaPub makes it a little easier to notify new players of events or other new things... then I'm all for it.

The sad thing is that I mostly ignored it altogether in TMF. Perhaps I got too used to it being there, or most of the stuff didn't interest me. But for a new player, it's a very quick way to see what cups are going on, etc.

Ok I have to give good arguments, but I do not want it, because I'm not interested in ML etc. and since today it is even with changing displays, all of which have nothing to do with events, but only to lead the paid (Planets) ML things to offer.
It just bothers me.
For this I am sure at some point there are two ads later, then four and eventually the entire free space is paved over.
Nevertheless, this one bothers me already.
It's the same with the sorry stupid advertising Canyon if I start TMU, which I also get displayed at all times even though I've long since bought Canyon.

Make the information to go public requires someone or a rule to decide which one will go. If you are uninterested by the public information today, maybe you will tomorrow. Providing a tool to first make the information public is something is necessary if we want to leave a chance to people that make things to make them known, would it be a server, a competition, a team, a creation or maybe even more interestingly, a blog that inform on a editorial basis that you can like on what is interesting to know around. If we knew what information you really care, it would be more easy, but we have selected some spaces, like in profile where we think players may look more for cars and multiplayer servers where people may look more for servers/teams or editor where plug ins, mods and tutorial can more easily find their targets. For local play, it is true that there are less things today that can be brought by other players.

As you can see here, Nadeo Live is working continuously to update the support to players, as we also updated a lot of our work in the past. I think it is the same for some players towards other players. Live operation often comes with the logic of live information and we would like to avoid to decide which information should be brougth to you in order to stay fair for the community.

Still takes me a few seconds to find the X button, usually. I play TMU a lot more then TM2.

that's where you will find little information space on tv and advertising/sponsor on movie posters etc.

but you are right the global design would need to be rethink in order to integrate this better

I don't think it will come soon since we are dealing with Maniaplanet 2.0, but there is always things to be improve.

So this is the way to get community news out there about tournaments? We've been trying to figure out how to better publicize USA tournaments like GEEX (October 2011) and the upcoming A&G '12 TM2 Open tournament (online prelims start on 21 Jan 2012).

Is this the mechanism we need to use to have everyone see it? If so, Macduffman will need to know how to do it so he can get the word out, since he's running out of time before his tournament starts.

Forgive my newbness, I haven't logged into TM2 for a bit and am not sure what all the fuss is about, but Hylis, if you've given us a mechanism to get news out now, will you direct me on where to go to find info on how to utilize it, please and thank you?

(My apologies for those that don't like it... but we need something since forums and MX don't reach everyone.)

ehr... in general i HATE banners. And i think everyone except the people making them agree on that part.
So instead of bannering, why not create a standard sidebar link in the maniapage menu to a maniapub homepage with a list (+ standard icons for different linktypes) instead?

This can be done in other sidebar menus as well and isn't this annoying


on a sidenote: i expected the 2dtriangles to be fixed, why the delay?
