Yeah, disrespectful was a bit harsh. I changed my post to say prejudicial.VonTyrconnell wrote:Heh heh, nae bother.... Disrespectful is a little harsh though... I consider it 'new poster giddiness'. Never been afflicted?
To the best of my knowledge, I've never been afflicted by "new poster giddiness".
But then I've been using forums and message boards for over 15 years, so it's hard to think back to when I was a "new poster".

Ok then, settled. You are an informed internet user who has an adequate handle on things forum related. The last word goes to you, sir/madam

What do you mean by "single-player tracks scaling too fast"? Like the difficulty of the single player campaign gets too hard too fast?Trackmaniack wrote:You wanna know the truth? Here it is, like it or not, but somebody's gotta say it: I went from being TM2's biggest fanboy to not hardly playing it at all. Why? A lack of an online scene where I could race in tracks that I like, single-player tracks scaling too fast, and, most importantly, the previous-generation hardware compatibility has been thrown in the trash in favor of high-resolution visuals and shiny.
You say that previous-generation hardware compatibility has been thrown in the trash. Isn't that the case with a lot of new games? You can't expect to buy a new game in 2011/2012 and expect it to run well on mediocre hardware from 5 years earlier. Game developers have all this technology to push their games forward, and hardware gets cheaper and cheaper. I don't see a reason to look backwards.
If you can't play Canyon acceptably with your current hardware, fair enough. Can't afford new hardware right now? Fair enough. But that's not Nadeo's fault as much as it is yours for not upgrading to a newer system yet.
During the Canyon beta... I built a new PC for $1400 USD and I still can't run TM2 with High Definition textures or I get too much lag online. So I play with HD turned off, most everything else is turned up. I'm okay playing with HD textures off, as I played TM1 on PC1 shaders for years. For me it's not the graphics as much as it is the gameplay that matters.
On the up side, I can play TM1 with maxed out settings now.

Canyon settings can be tweaked quite a bit to find an acceptable framerate for a playable online experience for a lot of different hardware configurations. Perhaps it won't look the prettiest, but it will be playable. If you want the newest and best graphics, it's time to upgrade.
This is disturbing. It should work at least as well as it did in previous versions. If not, then they've evidently messed something up. I hope they can clear that up.Trackmaniack wrote:With the latest update, even minimum settings reduce my computer to a crawl; and forget the reason many of us even buy this game--making awesome screens and videos.
I'd hate to see you leave. You're one of the few staunch advocates FOR the game. If you quit, the other side will have won a battle (though not the war!).Trackmaniack wrote:Until TM2 gets -much- more highly optimized, I'm done. I regret having to say that in the public forum, but it's the truth.

In a word--yes. I finally did make it to a few of the Black tracks in TMUF. I'm not even through the Blue tracks in TM2...and like was said during a beta, it seems like some of these tracks, your chances of winning are based on luck, not 100% on skill like it was previous.eyebo wrote:What do you mean by "single-player tracks scaling too fast"? All of what you say is true, however, I don't have a 5 year old PC, as a matter of fact, my last PC was the "newest" PC I've bought, relatively speaking. My Toshiba was already 2 years behind the times when it came out, and my Gateway, while it's not optimized for gaming, is hardly a slouch. It's got a 2.5 gig processor, ATI Radeon HD 4250 Graphics, dedicated, and 4GB RAM. Unless I seriously missed something, that should be adequate, yes? It's not.eyebo wrote:You say that previous-generation hardware compatibility has been thrown in the trash. Isn't that the case with a lot of new games? I want to have as much faith in them as you, really I do. But like I said, TM2 is all-but-unplayable now...and the worst part is I have -zero- free time now to sit and play games...when I have an hour to play, or to edit, or to shoot, and literally it's 5 minutes per screenshot...I just can't do it, especially when I'm trying to drag the cam all over the place and it's lagging through molasses...actually, that brings up a question. Since my game is lagging like no other, is there a way to, say, set up 10 different shots in LQ, and then boot up the game in HQ to actually -take- the shots?eyebo wrote:This is disturbing. I don't want to leave...but like I said, I just feel like nothing is working, and I don't have much to say about it anymore.
