Best quotes I found (EN)
strategyinformer.com wrote:Make no mistake though -from what we’ve played, Shootmania could be the new CounterStrike, and we’re rather impressed with what Nadeo have done.
eurogamer.net wrote: Nadeo clearly isn't going to have any trouble coming up with entertaining maps and modes for its game, but the idea is that once it's in the community's hands, there'll be something new every time you load it up: new maps, new modes, new skins. This is where ManiaPlanet comes in.
PCGamer.com wrote:If it captures the community’s imagination, it could become something very special indeed, and one of the year’s surprise hits.
spong.com wrote:The maps are pretty simplistic, but allow for some addictive fast-paced action.
Looking good so far. Glad big sites like PC Gamer are also reviewing it.

Shua:

[...]
That I had the opportunity to try is halfway between Quake and Tribes, but with a considerably lower content: three arms that feel ridiculous, no gadget, maps cobbled together the hard and only few days (according to the developers), game modes and it is unoriginal about it ... The absence of a weapon on the screen (for first-person) amplifies the sensation of being faced with the alpha of a F2P FPS and the general feel is sorely lacking in violence and intensity. For now, ShootMania gives me the feeling of being primarily a tool for creating tons of game modes nonsensical for an FPS lacking personality and great ideas.

Mouse in hand, the result is nevertheless pleasant time of discovery, but unless the developers are working double time for the scheduled release in a few months, I will continue to spend my lunch breaks on Quake Live.
Dr.Loser
On my first half hour to play, I really wondered if it was a joke, because the game seemed very simple: you move, pull, sprint and ... That's it? I've already been around? Accessible, that is the word, but at this point, this is unheard of and I fear the learning curve is somewhat limited, because once you master the movement and speed of your shot, it n 'there is much left to scrape. No Item in timer to control the map, no need to adapt to the opponent's weapon knowing that there is only one, not really a war of position because the weapons do not have of splash damage and there is little opportunity to take cover, few teamplay since all players are identical and that there is no interaction between them, if not the opportunity to shoot them in the feet to make them jump ... Only on the last map that I could have fun learning the system jumping and stamina to gain momentum as it descends to virtually fly over the ground, with good sensation of air-control.

But other than that, I did not see much scratch, experiment, learn and this is probably what turns me off the most as a veteran of FPS. But maybe ShootMania is not intended to FPS fans, like Trackmania does not apply to amateur racing simulation? Moreover, another aspect that disturbed me is the absence of violence: there is no detonation, no explosion, no blood, no impact on the target, not either weapon on the screen. You do not feel this visceral feeling of power when an enemy kills ... Besides, you can not kill an enemy, we eliminate an opponent by touching it with a colored ball. The non-violent no doubt please some, but I nonetheless found a pity that the game lacks so much atmosphere and style. There is no universe, no humor, nothing but a soulless environment. It is as warm as a gym, but if I understand, again this is something voluntary on the part of Nadeo.

It remains all the scripting aspect and level editor, but as a player of FPS, it's not something that particularly appeals to me. Maybe if it was possible to change the gameplay by adding weapons, items, or by creating classes, I'm leaning over to try to create my own multi FPS, but the editor only allows to design levels and game modes is therefore impossible to create a weapon or even change the physical.

As we said Nadeo, what we played was not ShootMania. ShootMania is all to create the experience we have lived. That explains why I have not felt to play a full game, but a single brick. Does the project will help the community to design something richer, more complex, more complete? I'm not sure whether the goal of cultivating Nadeo sleek appearance of the game .. Which, I fear, seems overly simplistic.

Interesting post by Dr. I do think that is one way of looking at it, but i think SM is a similar style to TM. Very simple. I think this is lacking in the FPS genre so it should work out... I hope :D

my favorite.
Rock Paper Shotgun wrote:He talks about ShootMania appealing to people as a paintball-like sport rather than another violent war game. About how esport doesn’t need to be bloody and explosive to be engaging or competitive. His soothing French accent is dreamy.
