ManiaLive Store

topically we have been thinking about a new feature that could be called something like the "Plugin Store".
Currently on the ManiaLive ManiaLink there is the possibility of publishing plugins on the specific section.
The idea is to increase importance of this area, maybe build some sort of "ManiaLive AppStore" where you can sell your plugins for coppers. At the moment there is revenues for designers, modelers and trackbuilders but programmers haven't had the chance really to create kind of an income
With the ManiaLive Plugins Store you would have an easy accessible and centrelized way to sell your plugins.
So if you have interest in this development and/or ideas to it, then please share it with us.

Nope, I think the plugins should be freely availably for everyone, even if you don't have coppers.
And people will eventually find the plugin's location and download it from there.

The community is based on the will to share stuff without making yourself better (even with coppers), I think it should stay like this.
The way it is done now (the pluginlist on the ManiaLive ManiaLink) is good enough for me.

I don't think that it needs to be a store. I don't like the idea of making peopÅŸe pay for plugins, they can always donate if they want

Perhaps I have put too much emphasis on the commercial aspect, we're talking about coppers ... are we?

I think also that plugins should be free, like the dedicated server and the server controller,
that way for example lan party organizers can have decent lan server without paying millions of coppers for getting the essential plugins for server to operate, etc.

I thought earlier to make some of my plugins for xaseco to sale, but then i dropped it, since it's kinda stupid, the buyer can't get coppers back if he/she is not satisfied, and how the updates? Plugins need some times (most of the times) upgrades, the first versions are most likely not to work 100% accuracy, then you'd end up paying multiple times for basicly same content.

+1 for the idea to get coppers also to developers, but i think the model doesn't work, better would indeed to have centralized place to download and freely donate for the plugin developers.

Whoow. Just got this crazy idea for direct download + install plugins to manialive via ingame link, now that would be something!

Whooa. And another crazy idea, for really easy usage with minimum configuration for end users, make plugins to auto load, so no need to enable them in config.ini, just disable for if you don't want the plugin.

Great idea. I love the mac app store and I think i will love this too But I also think it´s the decision of a developer whether he add his plugin or not. Please realize it so i will be a coppers millionaire

In fact, it could be interesting...creators already sells skins, video and tracks, so why not cool plugins ?

It is a good idea.
As with skins, mods etc the developer can choose to distribute it freely too.
So people that just want to share their plugins put it in the forums, and people that need some revenue can put it in the store.
At least, that is the way i understand it...

Nice idea, the author can decide whether he wants offer the plugin for free or not.
