Hmmm, I don't think so. Nothing against you arc_ but Nadeo created the game, and arc_ created a tool to use with the game. Don't get me wrong, though, it's a great tool.

Not to nitpick too much or anything but this seems kind of backwards. I think people would be less confused with less blocks in the editor, hence the "Simple Editor" which contains less blocks than the "Advanced Editor".

Just wanted to clear up some things, and it really bugs me when people diss Nadeo for not doing work. How do you think Canyon was created? With a random letter generator that happened to write code that happened to work and that happened to be a Trackmania game? And what will you be saying when MP 2.0 comes? Who do you think made that?

Well there's my rant. Felt good to get it out. If there are any lingering feelings on anyone else's part about it, we meet at midnight in the dark alley across the street.

Follow that logic, whole trackmania should be "Click to Win" to be perfect! to not confuse anyone, Right?
i think there is a lot of different peoples here, some of them will be confused even with basic the editor, but for others even texture modding and block-mixing in not enough.
So it is not a question of simplicity but satisfactions of different parts of community, even for small ones.
Those parts are linked together, for exqample: 3 happy(+talanted) car creators => 30000 happy players => involvement of new players => +1 happy(+talanted) car creator => ......
you can replace the car creators by mappers, moders, scriptwriters, server holders and etc...

Oh, I like that idea.

@ teroor : I pretty much agree with Banjee's reaction. I'd say that you have to think also to other players. You have to think about all the people that are not that well used to the game (unlike you, apparently), or even those who handle it for the very first time.
It's quite a challenge to please every kind of player, from the total noob to the elite progamer. But TM is "universal", so it has to be this way.
Creativity without boundaries is just a waste of energy.

As this being one of the best changes in the core game by the community since bug-mapping was invented!
Makes less limits (almost infinite creativity) for mapmakers (RPG, stunts, platform, lol etc) and videomakers.

I hope that the integration with the environment (lighting, reflections etc) either get improved or looks better in the actual block editor by nadeo

Like u say u have to think to all players ... And i don't think u do it. U think about the noobside but do u think about people who wants more ? I don't think so. For me u build (for the moment) a TM for the fun communauty (that's rocks) but u have forgot to think about the major community who loves to go further more ... And for this ... I think that arc works more on TM lately than they own creators. That's near than 1 year we haven't more blocks.

I don't speak about elite or noob just about people who have so lot imagination .. Where are blocs with more road stuff ? More decoration stuff ? we are on desert and there are trees ? No ruins ?

The creativity of all stops at the freedom of each ... and i don't see no freedom with more editors ...

but the thing with a need of use tm2unlimiter makes it incredibly stupid,
becouse Nadeo said something about Block-Import.
