[TM2] [HUD] Do something about chat spam!

Hi,

Since the free 3 day passes were given 2 months or so ago, in the last few days I have noticed an increase in spam in the chat window.

This is from individual users who 1, post invalid times constantly so that the red text floods the window, 2, post web links to external sites. Here is the evidence in a screenshot (lower left corner).

Currently there is no way to ignore/block/kick users, there is no spam control, currently anyone who wants to post links constantly can do so, (after googling for a free 3 day tm2 pass). I think this is very distracting - also there is no way to hide or minimise the chat window, and it makes the chat window totally unusable. At present the only method is to tab and left click the player name, and report abuse - but this is not real-time, and there is no response.

I would like to see either user chat privileges for free-pass members dropped, or a ignore/votekick/voteban system to be implemented.

You could remove panel by using *
Otherwise I'm not sure but you can ignore someone by the Menu on the top of left of your window.

Only the admin of the server could kick/ban him

Dunno if this is a job for the server admins, but a votekick/voteban system is a good idea!

@dmn001, you could try to blacklist such users at maniahome (privacy settings --> players). I havent tried it yet but it says you won't see them ingame anymore.

According to the image it's hard to tell if that's really spam or he/she just wanted to share a funny video from my point of view and that image. Me and my friends exchange funny stuff every now and then too. I only see people laugh from the vids and not complain about the links in the chat. If you play on a proper server with some xaseco or mlepp or something installed, there are plenty of options to block/ignore/kick/ban/blacklist your visitors.

Of course there's always the option from the games menu (by pressing escape key and go to advanced options) to call/vote kick/ban.

I am not aware of the options in the game menu to call vote kick/ban. I will try to contact the admin of the server to ask about xaseco or mlepp. Thanks.

Yes that is true but it removes all the panels not just the chat, its good if you dont want any distractions. There should be a way to customise the hud a bit more rather than all or nothing.

You can deactivate the chat in the profile menu.
