Hi there,
Hope someone can clarify - I've had a search around but can't find a clear answer.
I have a profile set up and working fine - I can play online, offline, all of it.
I created two new profiles for my sons while playing split screen with them. Now whenever I load the game, I get the option to choose their profiles or my own before I get into the game. When I choose one of their profiles though, it pings up error messages about connecting at least once to maniaplanet and the product not being activated before loading to the main menu where I can't click on anything. If I choose my profile it works fine.
Is this how it is supposed to work? I'm sure that in TMUF I created profiles for them that allowed them to play the tracks offline in single player, but they just couldn't go online with those profiles. Do I really have to buy a second or third copy of the game just so that I can create a second or third usable profile for my sons????????
Thanks.
Offline profile for my sons?

As far as I know, this is how it works. If you want next accounts you have to buy next copies of the game.
- You did.
- And...
- ...I didn't.

You can't play with an offline account. But you can play in splitscreen between one online and one offline account.

Re: Offline profile for my sons?
Thanks for the replies. It seems odd then, that they give me the option to choose an offline profile when the game loads if I can't actually play or do anything with it.
Also, is there any technical/good reason why Nadeo have changed it so you can't even play offline single player with another profile other than the obvious financial reasons? Given how generous they were with the whole Trackmania Nations Forever thing, this seems like rather an abrupt 180 degree move in the opposite direction.

Re: Offline profile for my sons?
This limitation is based on single code path for the campaign that is connected, since we cloud scores, medals, best official tries when you are connected in your profile. So, even if it was possible to launch with another offline account, the campaign would be not be accessible, like if you launch offline the game with your main account.
Since the remaining offline functions are the map editor, play a single track, local network play and the splitscreen, there is less use for offline accounts. The resulting action is that you can select an offline account at launch but can't play, which is the mistake of the menus, since the first box is to select an account, and potentially stay offline with it if you like.

maybe I didn't fully understand you, but I still don't get why it's impossible to localplay with those accounts...

Because they should not be displayed in first hand since the box is to chose an account and not a offline profile used for the splitscreen. It is a mistake of the menus like I said.
Re: Offline profile for my sons?
so it shouldn't be possible to login with offline accounts at all?
