Also, what's your power supply, because maybe your card doesn't get enough power. (source)
It does stutter like that at first but then gets much worse, happening almost constantly and lasting longer and longer until it simply locks up entirely.

My power supply should be more than adequate, as it's not given me any problems in over a year of using it.

Make sure after you uninstall that all traces of "maniaplanet" are deleted. eg the maniaplanet folder in "my documents".

I've had it installed since day one but had an issue for a while with my profile and country location messed up.
I redownloaded the entire new game file and reinstalled and it was sorted. I guess this was becuase it was a newer release than the initial one I had installed that had updated itself over time.
Might be worth a try?

If that doesn't work, uninstall gfx drivers and run driversweeper to get rid of all traces then install the latest ones?
I've installed the game several times, most of them in March when I bought the game and a few times this month when I tried again. No changes.

I did the Driver Sweeper thing just a few days ago. Still no luck.

I will try a reformat here in the next few weeks. Hopefully, that will solve my problems.

Reformat had absolutely no effect on my problem. I have to assume that something is wrong with the file I keep downloading or the install doesn't like my particular mix of hardware and software. Guess I don't play the game I paid for until I upgrade my computer. Fun.

we should really get some nadeo answer on this one

EDIT:
I've PM'ed Alinoa

I don't know if we can fix his issue but I forwarded this topic to one of the coder. As we are very busy with the Storm alpha, the answer may not be quick and I think that this kind of issue is not easy to fix.
Most often solution is found by players encountered the same issue and having the same specs because they tried different fixes.

Thank you again for being so kind with other players :thx:

Cheers,
Alinoa
So We'll see what happens next :D

It seems like mine was running smoother before the last update, although I had to reset things and maybe did something different. I had everything on highest settings before though and it ran smooth, now I've got most things set low and it gets jittery at times. Also I seem to be having ram issues while TM2 is running that I didn't before.

Are you getting stuttering in the single player game as well as multiplayer?
Have you tried pressing "o" to get rid of all other drivers to see if that cures the problem?

The most important settings for smoothness are in the compatibility tab.

Firstly I run TM2 in "fast" mode because "nice" mode causes occasional stutters.
I also use tick the box to use HD mode.

Here's my settings. These settings run the game very smoothly for me at least.

Hey, Thanks.
I have the same graphics card and these setting worked rather well. I bumped car reflections up to high though. I like shiny cars.
I think when I ran the update I also switched it to HD.

Hello,
You should know we're on beta with ManiaPlanet 2.0 (update) since yesterday.

This new version should output, during a race, every stuttering above 100ms, in the game log file
(with a callstack so we can know what the game is doing)

When the game locks up entirely, you can execute the game launcher, it'll ask you if you want to kill the game with freeze informations in a crash log file. (assuming your whole system isn't also locked up)

Maybe you can try to repoduce this behaviour with the new ManiaPlanet version ?

Thanks

car reflections are one of the most fps-eating things, from my own experience. same is with antialiasing.

I updated my game and managed to obtain two files, one labeled "FreezeDetect" and the other labeled "LogCrash," by doing as you suggested. What should I do with them?

After that, I used the settings given by flidd and managed to actually make it to a single player race event. The game still hitched but it didn't entirely lock up.
