Dropbox doesn't actually give direct links to files, even though they look so.

i used file den for direct linking and it works perfectly fine

you usually get a https:// link but you can simply remove the 's' making it using http://
i use dropbox for my locators and they work fine

You must forward the P2P ports and allow it in your computer as well.
This is also required when using locators.
