Lol, but QC is that what I need. I am creating Artifical Intellegence System and it hard to put [false-null-true] in [false-true].

Quantum computers are really an interesting thing. They're so much more efficient and powerful! The best thing is that they can compute everything at once, parallel.
Thus they could easily break any kind of password in splitseconds with a normal QC. Our current system of passwords would be completely useless then

But it's still a lot of development necessary and a lot of work to do until we got so far...
The quantum computers D-wave built are adiabatic quantum computers, which work a little different than the original idea of a quantum computer. Whatever effect/difference this might have, you probably need to study it first to understand it

(If you're able to speak German you can get some information about the function of a QC system here: http://www.weltderphysik.de/gebiete/tec ... n-technik/ )

Okay I only scimmed over this thread, but it seems like you are discussing what Quantum Computers will be good for in future.
Now here is a video about Qubits/Quantum Computing featuring someone researching in that field.
he must know when or if Cuantum Computers can be expected in your living rooms.^^

Well, this guy says we won't have them in our livingrooms because it only works with specific calculations. I'd say it's up to the software devs to find ways to make use of those specifics

It is a matter of cost. Since those computers seem to be sonsense for a lot of applications the only way to make use of them is combining them with another way of computing and then again it is not only even more expensive but also more complicated. Also you would have to work on more than one way of computing so you would have to split your resources on more fields of research and...
you get the point.

Since it is more complicated to use those comouters than just to replace the old ones by new ones, it will definitely take a lot of time and a shitload of work to bring those things into our living rooms. :D
Not to mention, that in that time there could be found another, better way of computing, as someone has already mentioned.

First of all, this topic was created, because my comment on the previous topic, started a chain of others, wanting to discuss QC :p Soo it got moved, and here we are xP

Google and Tesla (I think), have bought a QC costing them the sum of 15 million $. My general understanding of this is that Google and what ever this other company was, have bought the QC to research and make a PQC (PC+Q) :p

Other stuff: A team of students/scientist (not sure which) at Stanford, have already created a pretty good prototype of "Internet 2.0" :p Because as Haenry said:

They can destroy our pewny Internet with the push of a button, in the matter of 5 min.. Pentagon would be hacked in less then 30 min, and so on
The Internet 2.0 is a more secure way of exchanging information, which in the most basic is exactly what the internet do :p The current version of the internet, is a really outdated medium, and it is acctually a little bit embarrising, that nobody have done anything about it before now :roflol: The good thing about the 2.0 is that it is heavyly encrypted. This will lead to hackers falling out, because hacking will be so advanced, that if you are going to do it, you want to go for bigger targets, or it's not worth it. This will again lead to less hackers :p

Thanks for reading my rambles :)
