There is problem with special directories. New installer requires "maniaplanet" word in directory name so if previous installer uses different names, user must rename directories first then install game again. And, more important, installer can't detect existing special directories, so every time you must set them, even if previous installer (for TM2 Canyon) do it.
No upgrade option is really confusing. And forcing people to use specific parts of directory names is not so good too imho.
Maybe best method is to detect offline installation files inside game? User should put downloaded files into gamedata\installers\ directory and then game should detect it and unpack from disk without trying to download data?

Yeah, very good points.
However it works fine if you just add the key to the player page and let the game download the content itself,
I've tried that with Valley.

Re: How to install Valley?
Please, read everything before posting. I wrote that I was trying but that day download ingame was very slow (and download from website was very fast). After I downloaded installer, I notice that is no upgrade option, then I've notice that download ingame is terrible slow and I was confused.
Re: How to install Valley?
Why do you always think I do not read? I do not have to read nor to comment every single line of whatever whoever is writing, only to acknoledge I have read it.
But here I actually have read it, and I was even thinking short time to write "you already mentionend you tried the online download", and then you would certainly have complained why I was repeating you, right?
Why should others who read this topic not go the normal way - which is working fine, and this is what I only added here.
And I cannot say that the download of Valley was "terribly" slow, I just did something else in the meantime.
Perhaps you should be more patient and not expect perfection all the time.

Re: How to install Valley?
OMG... This is not first time when I think that you can't understand me, so don't be surprised.
I bought game and I get download link, so I download file with speed over 6 MB/s. Then after short time I run installer and noticed that there is no "upgrade" option and everything is set to "default", so I decided to enter key ingame and let game itself download and install needed files. THEN I noticed that ingame download speed is terrible comparing to browser download speed (and this was confirmed here that many people trying to download game in the same time). And because I already had complete installation files, I decided to install game from that files anyway. Then I saw some additional problems with external installer that I reported here, which is good, right? Reporting problem with installer can help programmers to improve, right?
Your method is not a solution, is workaround. You basically recommended "other method" instead of resolve my specify problem with external, standalone installer.

You can't stop this, kid, don't you!?
This kind of replay is totally useless.
I'm not anymore in the humour for your silly jokes if it is one.
Be warned: One more like this, and you need to pause from the forum

So don't overspan it.

You have only a luxury problem, due to some internet connectivity issue not every one has.rat_in_car wrote:Your method is not a solution, is workaround. You basically recommended "other method" instead of resolve my specify problem with external, standalone installer.
It could be improved, but perhaps it is simply done by purpose like this that the ingame download is reduced in the bandwith, to affect less the other online gamers.
It is a different approach to register the key online, or a recommended method to have all files in the same ManiaPlanet folder.
Because you have to hassle with the different setups, so what is the real workaround here, eh?

In this case I don't want to understand you because you tend to search for issues which are not really some

You post has no sense! Now I'm sure that you don't know what are you talking about. "Perhaps it is simply done by purpose"? What is done by purpose? No upgrade option in external installer?
I think the best way will be ask you to stop comment my posts anymore. PLEASE. This is my very big request.

Re: How to install Valley?
you can ban me or whatever, but +1. rat_in_car says that if you install another game with separate installer, it doesn't "catch" the custom folders. and you start talking about key registration, bandwidth limit and blabla.rat_in_car wrote:You post has no sense!
then don't post! or you think it's moderator's duty to post something to show that he cares about issues? his duty is to be helpful actually, here you weren't at all.TMarc wrote:In this case I don't want to understand you
