I don't give too much of a shit about the asthetics, still I voted "Epic Fail".

Sure it's nothing bad for a menu too look good, but its main prupose is to get information to you, help you navigate through this "environment" Maniaplanet is becoming and administrate your account.
The menu atm is bad in all those. "Usibility? What's dat?"

I think that is a big issue indeed.
In fact, the lack of information and the usibility in the menu is a big issue. Why this wasn't mentioned in the first post of this topic ? When I saw this topic on my first time, I just thought about the appearance aspect.
It seems to be a broader issue than I first expected

Regarding all of you discussing this topic, have it ever occured to you that Nadeo is incapable of doing anything better untill they hire dedicate design-people?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not merely trying to bash Nadeo here, but the horrible choices made regarding UI and menus all over Maniaplanet/Shootmania basically proves that they really are incapable of doing it any better.

I mean, they even make a freecamera that you can't change speed of, but it has acceleration on it. WHO COMES UP WITH THESE IDEAS? In terms of usability it's absolutely horrible, just like navigating through the menus can be to find something etc.

So here is my two cents on the issue: Untill Nadeo hires dedicated designers it is very unlikely that things will improve.

Absolutely right. Usibility stuff actually is hard to get right and therefore there are people specialized on that topic.
Hiring someone isn't cheap, but in this case it would benefit Maniaplanet greatly.

Btw, look at the votes, how they changed in the last 24 hours. xD
Defininitely a lot more Epic Fails.

Yeah. Fact is navigation/ menu handling and design is bad.

And over 80% dislike it.

The current main menu with titles in various sized windows is a cool idea in my opinion, but a title menu should definitely go back to Canyon's helicopter view menu. Community liked it for its innovative look, it was just gorgeous, and now we got dull shiny metal menu which moves for no reason when you accidentally click the background.

My idea:
In my opinion the current main menu is close to being perfect, just make it fixed, non scrollable, 5x5 customizable tileset and tiles resizable to all reasonably sized rectangles.
Possible to create folders if you need more space. After clicking a folder you would be just sent to another 5x5 menu. Keep the current cloud background, but make the background colour customizable for main menu and folders.

ofc instead of coloured tiles normal title screens would be used, and for not standard sizes like 3x1 some space inside the tile could be occupied with title news, like "Hylis has beaten you on A1 by -0:02.31".

MP widget (with for example last post on forum, behavoiur completely customizable), MX (with last track or last award), MPark (last skin, last 3d model, last 2Dcrew skin etc) would be appreciated :)
