Thank you very much for that response.

That is simply unbelievable. C'mon Nadeo what are you guys doing???
I'm not sure that adding rumble support will make a huge amount of difference to the gameplay, and it already works for other pads, so it is understandable that it is not a priority. As I say, we will have to wait to see if there is something they can do for the release copy but if not I don't think it is an issue that will stop people buying the game...

I understand your point, but heres the thing I'll explain in detail:

Some of us are in a predicament, where we will be using 900 degree steering wheels. If TM2 Canyon's control settings turn out to be exactly like TM1, then those of us with 900 degree wheels will have force feedback, which is good, but we will not have proper center spring resistance. Please see my post here:

http://forum.maniaplanet.com/viewtopic. ... 2&start=20

Therefore, as an alternative, we can use a little application called **xBox Controller Emulator** or "xBoxCE" for short. This program allows those of us with force feeback wheels to play games that support only the Xbox 360 controller, and what it does, is trick the game into believing our steering wheel is an Xbox 360 pad.

This is good, because even if the game does not have a virtual center spring strength setting, xBox CE does, and allows you to adjust the amount of spring tension/force in your FFB steering wheel. I have used this in Trackmania United Forever and it works great because unlike the normal wheel support in TM1, using this program gives me the amount of center spring resistance that I want when turning the steering wheel.

Problem is, when using xBoxCE, TM 1 has no force feedback delivered to our steering wheel since the program emulates the controller. That is why I want Nadeo to either:

A)Give us native support for center spring strength setting for our FFB Steering wheels
-or-
B)Put rumble support in Xbox 360 controllers so we can feel FFB when using xBoxCE

I would personally prefer A, since that way we don't have to bother with xBoxCE at all and can simply use our wheels directly in the game with proper ffb. But if they don't add a center spring strength setting, then playing the game with an FFB wheel is going to feel loose and sloppy with no turning resistance.

I hope that explains our dilema

I understand where you are coming from - thanks for the explanation. Asking for better wheel support (point A) is the best outcome for you.

I have played these games for long enough to know that everyone likes to play differently, but I should warn you - canyon is not particularly wheel friendly. You speak about a 900 degree turning circle - If you intend to use all of that transition you'd better be fit, because you will be spinning that wheel like crazy trying to lock yourself in place for drifts. The game appears to be geared towards pad and keyboard users - I think you will tire of using a wheel quite quickly.

That's not to say that future environments will be the same, so I can understand the request, but for the vast majority of canyon players it will probably be unnecessary.

Thanks for the reply. I'm glad you understand what I was trying to say.

Regarding the 900 degree issue. Don't worry, I have a program that locks the rotation of the wheel to any degrees I want, so I usually keep my wheel at around 180 degrees in TM1

I'm pretty sure they've been aware of the problem for a few years now, users have been complaining about that (and the lack of rumble) on the forums for as long as I can remember.

But why haven't they publicly addressed it?

So ... still no native XInput support? That's a little disappointing considering how many people are playing with a 360 pad (including myself) ...

Well, this is the only way to make full use of a 360 pad (triggers as separate axes, rumble support) and this is what I used to do with TMUF (and probably will have to do with TM2) ... If it wasn't such a pain in the a** switching between XBCD and the original M$ drivers ...

Why do you need to switch ? AFAIK XBCD does everything the official drivers do, and you can create different profiles for different games (I have one with triggers as buttons, one with triggers as a single axis and one with seperate axes).

It's a little more than disappointing, it's downright disgusting! I mean seriously Nadeo....it's been 3 or 4 years since you coded the last Trackmania game, and you can't even add native xInput support to Canyon? You KNEW there were going to be MILLIONS of people playing this game with an Xbox 360 controller....in fact there is no doubt in my mind that this is the PRIMARY controller everyone is using, and yet no xinput support therefore no rumble and very shotty and flaky support for the controller that doesn't even allow us to map the triggers properly without the use of a third party application.

Utterly appalling and disgusting.
