TM has always had support for the 360 controller, however the triggers have always been set onto one axis. TM2 will also support is however from what I've heard it's essentially the same so the triggers are still one axis...

TM does support it but the support is flaky at best and I could never get the triggers to work for acceleration/breaking.

Because they don't work at the same time. I use the red button.

My up and coming trackmania 2 canyon team. Intentions on expanding to all nadeo games eventually.
Feel free to come in and say hi, it's a casual and laid back team. If you have any suggestions feel free to pm me.
The accel and brake are digital (on or off), and not an analogue control. Therefore it makes no difference if they are mapped to the triggers or to other buttons - in fact you may find it more annoying to use the triggers because you have to push them down so far to turn them fully on.
I use a 360 pad and I guess over the years I have got used to using A for gas and X for brake. If there was an analogue throttle I would be jumping up and down about this particluar issue too, but as it is it doesn't really matter. In fact I wouldn't like the layout in your diagram personally (although I realise this is just for illustration) - I think fully customisable controls is just one of the perks of PC gaming.

Not only that, but there was NO rumble for the 360 controller at ALL in TMUF/TMNF. That was a major dissapointment. So I'm hoping we will get rumble in TM2.
At the moment there is no rumble for the xbox 360 pad in tm2. However, the game is still in beta and it has been reported as an issue on the beta forum. That does not mean that Nadeo will be able to include rumble support by release, but at least they are aware of the problem. I am assured that rumble on other pads works fine.

Thank you very much for that response.
That is simply unbelievable. C'mon Nadeo what are you guys doing???
