The code that allows camera to orbit has to be somewhere. The GPS modified view is available in Canyon, and seems Media Tracker would also support it as part of creating race videos to share. So it is not an unreasonable assumption that the base functionality was indeed coded into TM2 by the devs (not unlike orbiting camera capability that MMO devs add, and let the user pick where they like it best).

Besides some previous posts and screenshots from an earlier incarnation of Trackmania indicated that Nadeo had actually had those views in the past.
