Re: Shootmania trailer
I have a feeling there might be a replay that you could then shoot from? In this case the entire trailer would be realistic to what you could do
(if not I agree with you)

Re: Shootmania trailer
^^ This is confusing...can I get some clarification as to what you're referring? Other than that, badass trailer! Can't wait to see this game in action

Re: Shootmania trailer
I was replying to SiH- just saying that if there is a possibility to save replays with all players (which I expect there will be) then creating a video like the trailer will be straight forward (in terms of recording maybe not creativity ^^)
If there is not that possibility then I would have to agree with him- make sense now? ^^

Actually, I was asking what SiH meant, but your reply got put before mine
But that's okay--I think I've figured it out.

Yes but lets say you want to create a machinima.
In tm you just create a lot of replays and then merge them together. You can even play with your own ghosts and make it look like they crash into eachother.
Im not sure if you can shoot your own ghost and get an elimination effect.
When creating a machinima you need to get other people to co-operate with you in order to get how you want it to look like. And for this you need a server.

It's ShootMania, not TM SHOOTMANIA.wraith wrote:i hate to say this about TM SHOOTMANIA but i will Not be buying this, only on the grounds i hate
the Halo feeling in shooters, shame it had not been more like world war 2 style..i think its the
flying what puts me off..
would be nice tho if the modders could also turn off GRAVITY when making a map !
if this could be done then i think i would buy it
but it still looks very nice game

I'm surprised you expected something realistic like a WW2 simulator.
This is a sister game to TrackMania, a game about crazy jumps and insane loops, fast speed, spectacular crashes... and all very unrealistic things. To have a shooter that didn't compliment those qualities would mean it wouldn't compliment TrackMania at all, and it wouldn't really fit into ManiaPlanet.

Re: Shootmania trailer
No, you're right about that--but I can agree with the quoted poster--so far I'm not as impressed with SM as I was with TM:C. Especially in terms of gameplay. The graphics are all properly shiny and whatnot, but seriously? The default match-type is one that's going to be over in 5 minutes, tops? I know TM is all about drop-in drop-out gameplay, but a shooter is about big battles and multiplayer mayhem. At least try to make the trailer not so misleading. And what is this that all we can do is design the coat-of-arms on our back? o_O Seriously? Again, this is a -team- game, right. But even in Halo you can have different colors for insignias and armor, even -in- teammodes. And then there's this ridiculous restriction: I heard, I think on the e3 news blurb about SM that there's going to be 30 (50?) players per map, max? What? That's not even half of a trackmania erver, and not even close to any modern shooter worth their salt. It seems like SM is taking a big step backwards, at least in terms of game content and user moddability. Sure, the graphics look amazing, and the core of SM is solid--but, and this is one of my biggest gripes: a shooter without a gun model isn't a shooter, and hasn't been since the mid 90s.

is that good? for ex., I always disliked CS, because I could never learn what do terrorists and counter-terrorists look likeTrackmaniack wrote:And what is this that all we can do is design the coat-of-arms on our back? o_O Seriously? have you ever played a shooter with 50 players on one server? And then there's this ridiculous restriction: I heard, I think on the e3 news blurb about SM that there's going to be 30 (50?) players per map, max? do you look at it?a shooter without a gun model isn't a shooter, and hasn't been since the mid 90s.

Re: Shootmania trailer
No, it's not good. Read my post, Omnixor. Other team shooters make this work quite efficiently--the Ur Example being Halo. Your main armor color in team-matches is the color of your team, but any accessory colors, such as trim, helmet/visor color, and logos and insignias, still retain their original color. So it's quite possible. Ubisoft is just making everybody lazy...<_<Omnixor wrote:is that good? for ex., I always disliked CS, because I could never learn what do terrorists and counter-terrorists look likethis is made for fast and clear recognizing of if this player is enemy or not. how would you do it, if everyone would be colored differently? in TM you don't need to care about other players, but here you do...
Yes, I have. Joint Strike. Battlefield 2. Halo CE. Hell, there was a shooter from the 90s, Joint Strike, I think, that allowed over two HUNDRED players -per side-. And it did it without lag. In the freaking nineties! I thought TM was always bigger and better, now they're shrinking.Omnixor wrote:have you ever played a shooter with 50 players on one server?I think the max. will be 64, and this is more than enough imho.
Look at what? The game? There IS no gun model. There's a crosshairs in the center of the screen. That's just laziness, again. Since the guns are wrist-mounted energy blasters, shit, I'd take some rudimentary form of an arm, pointing at the target. But nothing there except crosshairs is just bad.Omnixor wrote:do you look at it?
And that still doesn't take into account what I said about game modes...they're short, less than 5 mins, tops, and at max are 3 on 3. This mode is being as highly publicized as TM's Time Attack mode for being the "default" game mode. Which I wouldn't necessarily have a problem with--if the trailer wasn't so heavily geared the -opposite- direction. By default, it doesn't even look like there's going to be a "battle" mode, with all-out team-based carnage. It looks like it's going to have to be maniascripted in... >_>
