So, if you connect to the Nadeo Title Canyon, for example, you will be confident that the map will be standard ones without objects you would like to avoid to see on tracks.

Addressing some of tcq's concerns, here's a quote from the maniaplanet blog (be sure to go check the entire post):

I tend to agree ... every map IS GOING TO LOOK like "running around castle ruins". The room for real modding is somewhat limited. We'll have to see what Nadeo thinks abou this (or providing addons or other enviros)SpacemanSpiff wrote: Short version:

Mhmm.. I don't want real guns in it, I don't want blood or gore or body parts flying around.Guns:
But I admit I actually like to have a choice of weapons at my disposal for different gameplay and maps. I don't need 480 weapons to chose from, but I would like to have at least one submachinegun...
Edit: link to an unknwon place ^_^

This is just the first environment, the same gameplay will be on further titles, just be patient (:TStarGermany wrote:I tend to agree ... every map IS GOING TO LOOK like "running around castle ruins". Speaking of that, it would be nice to know if only the envi or also the gameplay changes in other SM titles because in TM it does.SiH13 wrote:This is just the first environment, the same gameplay will be on further titles, just be patient (:

Hylis said, the parameters of the gameplay can change for the other environments, but it's not official for the moment.Timmeh7 wrote:Speaking of that, it would be nice to know if only the envi or also the gameplay changes in other SM titles because in TM it does.SiH13 wrote:This is just the first environment, the same gameplay will be on further titles, just be patient (:

Re: What worries me about ShootMania (maps and guns)
Are you absolutely sure that this will be the case? This is probably the only real Achilles' heel I would see with SM. This has nothing to do with map design, memorising map locations or strategy but just the simple fact that every map would be goddamn castle-themed. Texture packs would go a long way to alleviate that. Much more important in a shooter than in a racing game like TM imo.eyebo wrote:
Texture mods can also be applied on a map-by-map basis by the author of the map. If you already have the mod, then you won't need to download it. If you need the mod, it will download when you load the map (if the author has set up a locator with it - basically just a URL to the texture mod embedded in the map file).
Re: What worries me about ShootMania (maps and guns)
I know it will be true at least on a title by title basis. I don't know for sure if it will be map-by-map in SM. We can certainly do it on a per-map basis in TM2 though, so I don't see why you wouldn't be able to in SM. I guess time will tell.

Edit: Oops, I just realized I already quoted this paragraph at the top of the page.
