Re: Maniaplanet Update #3 - wishlist

I miss that certain something. It starts with the menudesign goes over the menuhandling to the water that does nothing when you jump into it.

In TM1 you'll be greeted at the beginning of/with a friendly and clear menu.

A eye catching world globe rotates in the background
at the left side directly the menu to the right a buddy list and in the middle when you click at "Online-Game"
The most important thing a Worldranking list.

Those things completly missed at TM2, it lacks the friendly and welcoming incentive design and it lacks
the whole TM feeling.

The feel good in itself. Then to make the incentive to compete with others, the desire his name in color and use your own avatar and Skin

the incentive to compete with others, the desire to use colored name and use your own avatar and Skin. the feeling to absolutely want to reach the first place in world rank.

There is a lack of incentive to create a ManiaLink becasue the handling is simply *****
TM2 is confusing. TM2 is cold.

TM2 it not captivating or inspiring
even the good grphic cannot cover this.

When I started the first time TM2 started I got a crowbar as regards the design I thought that it can not be as cheap as the come over? Yet, even the beta so I was thinking fits is in final wirds certainly better. But it was worse now is a design available what ever does not fit.

If you go to a website, let's say you want to buy fruit ... but the site does not have a nice design and product photos look like they were made by a child. Would you feel comfortable on the page? Would you buy something there?

Same happens with TM2

TM2 has multiple things that have to get fixed, and those existing till "release"

I have not listed all those things i have noticed in the game environments

because this is not so important for the first impression.

And that first impression is the important thing.I have seen the sites and shops are wondering why they have little clientele or no one buys something online.

My father is one of them who had a design websites where you just wanted to quickly back away

when someone says to me should I still write in English and post in the English forum because there the developers read this.

This shows to me just how little the developers are keen to do something out of a game or to provide a good support.

A good support staff has to translate the useful and important criticism and contributions and forward them to the developers.

A good developer let be a beta phase continue to exist until the game is error-free.

A good developer can develop the game itself because he has understood what is important.
On the players on the user to the community, because with these people a game is great or it falls and falls into oblivion.

I wonder what went wrong, the Nadeo so suddenly decreases in the level. it almost seems as if TM not Nadeo but by someone else, or as the complete Nadeo team would have been replaced.

In TMNF / TMUF they just did everything right. Up on the stage is just too good and the other environments has put in the shade and thus was no money in the till.

So now I have become deep enough or?

I tried to make a push.

Either you are playing with the ball, passes it on, or let it be.

I leave playing TM2 now and go back to the roots back to Trackmania Nations Forever (Stadium)

The best and most creative racing game of all time.

You're bringing up some good points, but it mostly sounds like you just haven't done enough research on most of the topics you mentioned above..
Also you're getting pretty offtopic, wishlists are meant to be kept short. Your post doesn't even look like a wishlist.

I have to agree with BestNoob. Althouth it doesn't stop me playing TM2, the "cold" design of the menu is the opposite of the "I'm feeling at home"-design of TM1. A welcoming menu design is important to gather new players, not only the driving (and editing,...) itself.

And yes, the title selection screen with its draggable stations grants only cumbersome access to the titles. I did my best to optimize the process by letting the mouse aside and pressing arrow key and Enter, but meanwhile not even this is possible, the last step, clicking on the button "Enter title", requires the mouse.

So, my wishes regarding the menus: Less animation (that slows down the transition to the next menu layer), less cold colors, faster access to the different destinations.

And please, Nadeo, give us back the water splash. Such nice graphics while driving, but when your car falls into the lake:   The problem is much bigger when working with the MT. Every time I'm working on a video where a car crosses the water surface I bashfully have to change the camera angle. I really don't understand why this inconsistency in the graphics quality isn't fixed after such a long time :( .

It's kind that you are concerned about Maniaplanet and it's future, but actually, there is no reason to post it in this topic.

If you've read some hot topics, where people as you were showing their ciritical view of Maniaplanet and the strategy of Nadeo, then you might have recognized, that mostly the developers answered (often hylis), even if sometimes the people began to write comments in a harsh way. So there is no need to write it in this topic just with the reason to draw more attention.

You didn't write your post in a harsh way, no! What I would like to say is that if you create a topic for your own critical view, nadeo will take a look. But pls consider, that they haven't got much time and as hylis sad once: They often read but they have no time to answer. (I think he said that one time, but I am not sure :D )

So here is my suggestion for you:
The wishlist-thread intends to have short posts. Summarize your wish or your concern in two or three sentences and then make a link to a longer post, e.g. to your topic.

Good luck

well said Soprah.

being efficient, clear is the best. for example:
1. Improve the overall welcoming feeling of Trackmania menu, make it more like good old time feeling

or, split it into sub task

A. Improve menu feelings
1. add a video, pictures, rolling demos, a globe or else, instead of clouds
2. welcome players with multiplayer rankings, like before, to have this good TM international feeling

and then ling on a topic that you opened to explain it deeper.

priorities are very important. If you read the entire topic, you will see that so many players have so different top priorities. so, to sort this all out is quite a job, and to believe that you a right and all others are not would be strange. Each invidividual have their own priorities because each one is unique, that's the beauty of all this, and the power (and time to dev) behind maniaplanet.

normally, I avoid to post in this topic, in order to avoid to start debates in a really much loved place by me ^_^

so, please do not answer here. And I repeat: I read a lot and can not answer everything.

I would call this a bug, but nvm I guess:

- The "bubbles" for recording ghosts in the mediatracker are gone. You cannot see in which direction the bubble is pointing, because it's not visible.
- When going back from recording replays -> keep free camera position

Thanks for your attention!

A simple request for helping the builders.

I had taken noticed that using the cut and copy used too many resources,

because I often use cut in order to delete mass numbers of objects, so I
would like to recommend a delete button beside the cut and copy to help.

Additional wishes:
  • Fix the "600 Planets bug"
  • Possibility to have a sequence order of Checkpoint blocks, e.g. to avoid cuts or to force a specific path
  • ManiaScript enhancements for TrackMania:
    - position of player, opponents and perhaps also ghosts / replay opponents
    - position of Start, CP, Multi-Lap and Finish Blocks
    - sequence order of CP (list of already reached CP, next CP to reach)
  • For offline players (some have weak connection or only temporary connection):
    - caching of the livemenus
    - possibilty to also run custom title packs
  • Have shootable blocks or items
