To me, the main difference is to escape the routine and have lots of players you know and you respect gathered in the same event. Join no-train competitions such as the 24 hours of Trackmania, ET fun cups or the Coppers Millions Cup, spectate a last-division ET league match if you don't get it.
I think you have a good point. That does explain the reason to a friendly competition :)

AlexKF wrote:My ideal case would have been a forum thread/site/info section/in game page where there was a list of all the official teams in TM, with lots of details about it such as:

- Team Name
- Team Founder/s
- Founded date
...
- Catch line
- Membership application rules

Not sure to what extent people think this is a good idea but there were several reasons to why I thought it was:

- Increases networking (after all, this is a MMOG)
- Facilitates communication between teams
- Simplifies organization
- Saves times
- Allows comparison between teams
Awesome idea!

Couldnt we affiliate seeing as what you would do is essentially what I am already doing? :P

But in any case, maniaplanet-clans is for all games, not just TM, which tm-teams is if I am corrrect?

tm-teams is for TMF only, that is why I am thinking of doing mania-teams.com wouch would be for all MP games and not Tmf; I have tm-teams runing for nearly 2 years now. :D
having it work for TMF and MP would be very hard as the Api to get data fom Nadeo is completely different from each other. Basically there will be 2 websites tm-teams.com and mania-teams.com.

The thing with tm-teams is that it is completely automated, teams are added by the owners, and can be deleted by the owners. I have nothing to do with it. I just want a valid mail from the team.
What I need to check is :
-Delete teams that hasn't a valid mail & send mail before
-Check for inactive teams(a tools helps me do it) and send mail & delete
-Check reported teams,
-and other special situations.

Doing it as you do it through a Forum is nice, and simple but it has its limitations. I am not saying what I did is great, it is just more built for what it does. I have in tm-teams 109 teams registred and all of them have been active in the last 6 month at leas once. There has been a total of 302 teams that has registered and been around for a time before disappearing. and many more teams that were invalid from the start. 3131 players are registered in our DB.
I don't see how you can get so much teams in the forum??

I am also working on tiwtter/facebook like widgets for putting your player list on your own webpage. I may be able to finish that this weekend.

I will really like tm-teams to be the reference for team finding in trackmania and have mania-teams for maniaplanet. but actualy tm-teams seems unused by alot of teams. Which is why I am not sure if I should or not do mania-tams, it will cost me money and time.

So there isn't any proof needed to show that a clan is actually a clan?

They need to validate their e-mail and have more then 3 players. Of course the 3 players need to have a account in TMF for tm-teams to found them

Im kinda suprised no one mentioned IRC in this case
its brilliant to get to talk with other teams and get to know other TM drivers, also a lot of info about tournaments and streams and matches about to be played and so on.

and it brings every TM game together in 1 place
With that said then i just mean its nice to still be a bit updated on TMN ect as i used to play that before TM2.
