Shootmania is one of the fastest games out there, so it's quite obvious that keeping up with everything that is happening - every move a player takes, every mouse movement - make it harder and harder for the server to compute. In the end, the animations get broken, as in close range combat you often move faster, than the data are collected and stored. That causes sudden 'teleports' or rockets spawning some distance away from the person that shot it.
Quake Live's gameplay is faster than shootmania, yet its netcode is fine.
I can't play one online game on shootmania without seeing rails not hit when they should or the other way around for rockets (shooting rockets 1m away from the opponent hits ometimes). Want some proof?
Here. This issue has been reported since alpha. BF 3's netcode is just as shit as SM's.
And that's finally what I've been looking for
That's a good point. Unfortunately, I don't seem to recall any situation like that on the video I've been in, but I see the point now.
Still, I would disagree that Quake Live is faster paced than Shootmania (shooting wise it might be, but IMO not when it comes to movement, and that's what I meant by that honestly) and that BF3's netcode is as bad as SM's (that's actually far from truth, and I can prove that in a hundred ways), but yes, that's a good point to the discussion. Kudos for proving me wrong, man

I fully disagree. Quake Live or any quake for that matter, is a way more faster than Shootmania: shooting, thinking, moving wise. I never considered Shootmania as a fast paced FPS untill I read about it. It's more like a Counter Strike 1.6 with some wall jumps and a stamina button

I don't beleive circling all around the map twice in less than 10 second is possible in Shootmania!

Could it be that one of three dots of trilaser was not on the target? Then the hit would not be registered by design.

My:

In CS 1.6: stable ping 50
in TF2: stable ping 55
in Killing Floor: around 40-65
in Modern Warfare 2 FD1: 70-85
in Battlefield 3: around 90-170
in Shootmania with p2p disabled: around 70-4600
Netcode need to optimize and it shows at a slower connection speed.

Just to point out that it's only due to the fact that elite maps are larger for its gamemode, If you take combo or joust for example, you can easily circle a map in 10 secs.

Hi
The netcode is a joke to be honest, I dont know who the fuck made it but its bad.
I join a dedicated server with less than 20 ping, it shuold be fine, but if I stick my head around a corner and pull my body back I somehow die from magic bullets that can curve around corners..its fucking pathetic and takes most of the aim out of this game..sigh

Not sure if you're actually mixing up netcode with hitbox. Perhaps you were to slow and did not retreat enough away from that corner.
And please moderate your language (see also
forum rules).

The hitboxes are fine to me, like in every game of it's kind sometimes you get this very frustrating feeling of not hitting when your eyes sees the opposite. But Shootmania (talking about Elite) is SO aim oriented that people goes paranoid about it as their only purpose to win is to AIM perfectly! that's why Shootmania need a fresh relooking giving more space for the "brain" aspect of the game.

IMO (I love Shootmania)
