ManiaPub in Maniaplanet: it starts now!

Please take into consideration that moderation is always something difficult to define as absolute, especially because it involve human judgement. But also, think that there are different culture, age and that not everybody will use the same evaluation fonction as you. Even between us, some will let go a manialink when other will not. Moderation is here to moderate stuff, and if they are kind enough to give you a feedback, I hope you will be positive enough to consider that they are trying to help. If others are acting badly, we shall see it as much as we can, off course, even if it is difficult to be 100% fair.

I hope you can apologize to the fact that you laugh to people that try to make system rights, and if you don't, it would be like if you don't change your content when we ask you to do: it would be your right, but then it would be our to act as we wish as well.

As I said earlier, user experience is at the center of our priorities. We place ads at location where it won't keep you from doing anything.

In the profile, the ad is overlapping with the window and i can't read it any more.

In a reply on the placement of the maniapub ads, I would like to suggest the following setup for it.
Just create another menu button in the maniaplanet main menu so people can have a choice wether they want to see the ads or not. After clicking you could display a menu with the the, let's say, 20 latest creations/ads.

It could look something like this
1) and extra button in the topmenu (maniapub) or
2) on the side of that same page under the "read new comments button"

That is indeed a problem for user experience. I guess no one at nadeo actually have tags
In any case, this is only secondary problem since half of that UI is cropped by the window.
I reported the issue, hopefully it will be fixed soon. In the meantime, I added a "minimize" feature ; it's not perfect, but it's better than nothing *for now*.

On a side note, when I say "user experience is our priority", it doesn't mean that user experience is perfect. It means that our ultimate goal is to have a great user experience. But we are humans and we can obviously make mistake. Things also take time: for example this solution right here is not perfect, but it still allows you to use (half of) this UI before we actually update that particular menu.

Rule of thumbs regarding people's behaviour is that they don't click on/look for stuff. The goal of ManiaPub is to bring the content directly to the players ; otherwise they would not look for it (except "advanced" players).

ManiaPub, just like all our systems, is meant to evolve a lot anyway. We experiment a lot to see what works, what does not, and we iterate a lot. Maybe we'll add more options to hide/disable stuff ; maybe not ; at this point I honestly can't give you an answer, it's too soon.

An other point to mention is that ManiaPub ads are not sufficient to give players access to content. Ads are the "push" model: content is brought directly to players. We also need "pull" models: players go look for stuff (this model alone does not work, but "push" give players the spark so that they actually want to "pull" content afterwards): when ManiaPub ads is more stable, we'll introduce the maniapub-based explore page, where you can browse Manialinks that are currently advertising.

Note that we already did that in TMF, but because there was only one ad location (the main menu) the partitioning (hence the browsing) was not very user friendly ; our goal in Maniaplanet is to create a better structured Explore page so that browsing is more confortable.
