Hello all, just had an idea about what they could improve on the Mediatracker in the new Maniaplanet (as I assumed MT would be in all 3 games, I put it here). So, one feature that's always been frustrating to me, is when editing a replay, if you insert a key that doesn't match the interpolation or the anchoring of the previous key, the transitions disappear. So in order to go from being anchored to the terrain to being anchored to your car -smoothly-, you had to copy and paste the X Y and Z coordinates from one key to the next. And to top it off, the 3D coordinates are different for each anchoring position, because they determine 0 0 0 to be different places.
What I would like to see is a "more intelligent" mediatracker, so to speak, where they keys will smoothly transition if you have such an option on, regardless of their interpolation or anchor.

I don't really understand what you mean...
But in Tm it is already possible to copy and paste keys, if you mean this. Just click on one key and hold ctrl. Then click on the other one you want to copy the coordinates etc. from

Oh? You can copy whole keys? I just thought you could copy numbers...so I have to flip flop between keys, copying one number at a time...if you could copy whole keys, that would be AWESOME.
Heh, learning something new every day on the forums.

Re: [Mediatracker] Keys
I'd agree with this -- as long as there is an option to turn it off. Despite the ctrl-click option I think this would be a nice idea to make the mediatracker a little more intuitive for new players.
That said though, this would be an annoyance for me when I'm making a track intro (which is my biggest use of mediatracker). I like to have sharp transitions from one place on the track to another, to show off a lot of the 'high points' you'll have when driving (think of the Nations Forever intros, with embellishments).
Having the camera move like that during the intro would be noticable even during the transition fades. Currently I turn anchor on and off at each set of keys to make the sharp transitions (since I can only have one camera track in the intro). Obviously because the car is only in one place it doesn't affect the camera movement at all, and it is convenient (if something of a hack job and probably somehow bad practise
)
The other thing is, when making replay mediatracker to play after the race, you can't guarantee the player will be in the same spot as the mediatracker ghost. So the transitions still would not be smooth because of player variance.
Because of that I think this would really only be useful when editing replays to make a video (either for in-game or out-of-game viewing).
