[Question/Suggestion] gampad for looking

Post by riz25c »

Is it possible to use the analog stick or D-pad of my gamepad to look around instead of the mouse?? I've programmed the other functions I want but cant work out how to change the look function.

If it is - please could somebody tell me how. I've tried to change the look up/down and freelook buttons in profile/inputs but I cant set anything to use the analog stick or D-pad - unless I'm missing something obvious!!!

If it isn't - then this becomes a suggestion rather than a question.

I know a lot of FPS players prefer to use k/b + mouse but I'd rather use a gamepad if its possible.

Thx in advance for any help. :)

There must be software (I used similar, maybe 5 years ago) that allows you the extensible gamepad binding. I recall one suite, that allowed d-pad to emulate mouse movements (bind not even axis, but purely directions). The downside was, that software was I think Japanese, with an extremely awkward Russian translation.

Xpadder does allow you to bind the sticks to mouse movement, so if you really want to use a gamepad for FPS that works. It's also very convenient and pretty great if you use a gamepad for a lot of PC gaming. It's not free though...and while you can use Joy2Key as a good free keybinder, I'm not sure if Joy2Key allows for mouse binding.

Thx for the replies - I didn't think about using an emulator..........Doh!!!

I'm now using JoToKey and it works very well for mouse actions. :)

I still think it would nice to include the option in-game so that 3rd party software isn't neccessary.
