As the world's first magazine, we were allowed to view an ealier version of Shootmania: Storm, the first Shooter Episode from the maniaplanet universe at Ubisoft in Paris. Basically it has the same engine and the same Editor as Trackmania 2:Canyon , except that we just that we build paths instead of streets and walls instead of an crash barrier. And of course there is shooter specific components such as Jumppads. The rules laid down by us and our map design decide ultimately, what type of shooter we play. Its sure that it will be only an multiplayer shooter - it will have no bots.
Otherwise, no limits of creativity are set . Florent Castelnerac, the project manager, showed us a huge well, the bottom of the well is paved with Jumpads . The result is a mad jump-and-shoot-deathmatch, in which the player at the start of the game jump into the well and then he must try to do kill the enemies during the flight. Another map reminded us again of the classic Tower Defense principle: Team A must achieve the goal as numerous in a set in a walled route. Team B is located on the wall and must prevent that.
After that, temas are swapped.
Our first impression: Shootmania focuses as Trackmania consistently on the quintessence of its genre and leaves everything else in the community. And exactly this could be in times of million productions such as Crysis 2 or call of duty the great strength of Shootmania.

- Can you make your own AI? answer: I´ve seen Red Dead Redemption, where you go along the river and a guy gets out of the rocks and shoots at you. This is scripted AI, and with our scripting language that should be possible.
- everything to be shared between player is built : brick, servers, maps, everything..

-the characte models are still being worked on, but as above it will be friendly.
-in Shootmania there is no hardware, no stupid pretexts to killing, no fan service and no gadgets. you get instead building blocks ( smaller than Trackmanias)
-the Pack editor:
the modders will have to make paks, which includes: models, textures, custom scripts, rulesets, etc.
these paks should be installable ingame with one click. after choosing a pak you should only see the ladder and the servers of this certain pak.
Game Modes:
-the Butcher Place ,a CTF Game in which both teams bases are exactly eight metres apart, leading to carnage whenever someone tries to stick a flag in one.
-the Trapped Up, is a tower-defence game in which the defenders respawn rate drops with time, ensuring eventual vitroy for the enemy
-the jump-and-shoot-deathmatch, in which the player at the start of the game jump into the well and then he must try to do kill the enemies during the flight.
- called ,,a massacre´´, because players rush along a precarious ledge towards respawn checkpoints, while under constant pulverising fire from central gun emplacements.

So what you should know about Shootmania:
I think Nadeo wants Shootmania to be an good esport title with good publicity. That's why there is
-no blood
-no different classes
-only a few weapons
-pure fun game
-no ranking system
-only multiplayer ( up to 32 players)
