Need help at painting my car.

Post by cyrizz »

hi there,

so ive got a little question about the painter, and i hope you guys know best how to solve it.
i downloaded a car from maniapark, painted it and saved it, however, it does not show ingame or in the selection of cars as painted, allthough it appears as painted in the selection box below? so, can i change it somehow, cause it obviously has saved my paintings, or is this car maybe unpaintable?

thanks for reading and (hopefully) helping.

/Cyrizz

Edit: Im sorry, but the image wont load up. heres the external link to it:

Did you try to save it with the same name? Perhaps the skin was write protected (however this happened, but it should not be).
Which car exactly did you load?

Didn't wanna open a new thread as I have the exact same problem. Tried everything. Emtpying cache. Deleting all other custom skins I had. Nothing. When I go to the menu to choose my vehicle I can see the new car in small image but the big one still shows the old one (I used the first default car on the list - ACE to paint over) and in game car still doesn't show the custom colored car but the deafult ACE. What can be wrong?

video card driver issues? settings?
this issue happened already a lot of times before.
check if ManiaPlanet.exe is listed in the application profiles of your video card panel.
check if you have latest valid drivers (not beta versions although we have MP2.0 beta *sigh*).

Thanx for the answer. Yeah everything is up to date. I'm failing to see how this can be a video card problem?I don't have problems with displaying. IMHO I think it's a bug. If I dwnl any skin (for example german car skin) from the internet it works ok but If I choose any car to "paint over"->change the color to black->add some text->save as new the changes are not saved. The thumbnail shows the "new car" but the car isn't changed. It just shows the original car (the same car I clicked on and then wanted to paint over). Tried with 5 "default" cars. Everytime it's the same result. Been dealing with this the whole day :/

itlooks like this bug is still there.
try to use another color first, another than black.
then first save the new car, perhaps no spaces in the name.

thanks but it doesn't help. Tried 3 different colors. Thumbnail shows new car, big picture shows original car :(
There were no spaces in car name to begin with. Do I have to report this as a bug somewhere or?

Found a workaround. TM2 creates a .tmp file in the same directory. Renamed this file as .zip and it worked...

UPDATE: yeah but again doesn't save any changes. WIth every save you make you have to again delete the original file and rename the new .tmp file as .zip. Pain in the a**...
