Ingame instant messenging service

Hello,
I was wondering if the messaging system can be still get improved you all know steam and isn't it possible to get a different window to open if your ingame and you want to write back!?

Or at least see the message like in some rpg games with the / r mode and write then the person back!?

I think its a big improvement cuz I have noticed if you ingame you dont get aware that you got a message and maybe wait another 30 minutes untill you get a reply.
