Need email to add friends?[fixed]

Just noticed tonight that you cant add friends without having their email, this seems a bit odd to me, & I've never heard of a game where this is necessary before, if anything its a deterrent to adding people to friends if you have to give out your email.

Reason I noticed was I gave a friend I've known for years a 30 day beta key, & looked for a way to add him in game, the only option I could find said I had to give his email, now with my friend I know his email, I've known him years, not so sure he'd be happy about me putting his email in a game site.

As I said, with people I've known for years, well they probably already have my email, but what if you just want to add someone you had a couple of good games with?

Am I missing something or is there no way to just add people by in game name?

you're definitely missing smth. you can add people by their logins. by emails you can invite them to the game.

Ahh I derped, didnt click on buddies itself for the add option, just clicked on the find buddies under it, thanks a lot. That'll teach me not to try doing things at 2am XD
