[TM2] Crashing and Patch

I am at the end of my tether. I got Trackmaina 2: Canyons via a Lynx/ Ubisoft promotion. I chose to download Trackmania 2: Canyons. After downloading the Maniaplanet service it required a 200mb patch. After this was installed, It claimed it required administrator privileges to run. I was using the Administrator account on my computer, as I do to install all games. However when I clicked the OK box to the message another appeared, claiming I either had insufficient privileges or not enough hard-disk space, neither of which were true. I then reinstalled the game from scratch, and it will no longer even open to patch. I have no clue what to do.

having an admin user acct is not what this means.
you have to right click on the install exe and from the menu box that appears click on "run as administrator" which is usually the option under "open"

If you have enough rights, then there is no need to execute the setup with "run as administrator", broric

fredme98, please try to run maniaplanet:// using the explorer or the internet explorer.
There are some cases where the game doesn't start anymore if using the regular launcher icon.

Says it requires Admin rights.
User has rights and have tried run as.
machine is running xp sp3

Same problem here (got XP sp3 using admin account). Tried putting "maniaplanet://" in the url field, but it doesn't work. I see a window for a fraction of a second then it's gone. Probably because this url tries to open the game executable, which probably wont even open until the game is done updating. Tried browsing to the other .exes in the MP dir, but no response there either.

I think I also had this problem once long ago, with an early update. Just can't remember what was done to fix it back then.

Ok got it working again. Downloaded maniaplanet minimal setup exe from the player page, uninstalled MP from the machine, but only the game itself, not the other stuff when it asked whether or not to delete that. Then installed the ManiaplanetMinimalSetup.exe file. Started up MP...updated the 1.09 GB required, and after that it worked fine.
