Unable to gain ladder points

Hi, i bought the game today about 7-8 hours ago, i played online with a friend for a few hours and at the end of every race me and nearly every one else on the list received 0.00 ladder points. its strange because i was doing really well even beating track records on the server but still no ladder points. i asked my friend if he had gained any and he said he had so i went out of the races and had a look and it said i had 165 ladder points but my friend had nearly 400 and he did a lot worse then me in every race. so i carried on racing and still received no ladder points for each race.

The server was Big Bang Style and it was with evenly matched players so i don't understand what is happening, i should have got a lot more than 165 points

Are you sure you're playing on an updated (2013-02-09b/2013-02-11) server, because the first dedicated released on 2013-02-09 contained a bug making the ladder not working (you can check on the server with /version).

update: the (alas!) usual brown paper bag release, 2013-02-09b has been uploaded. The ladder system was turned off in 2013-02-09 release....
