My ideas and suggestions for TM2 Valley

Valley is basicly the TM title I am the most excited for, all the green, the fun looking cars (look at my avatar, I know that you can't regret how fun this car looks to drive with) the blocks, the dirt roads, the european feeling to it, it looks great! But I wanted to share some ideas that I think it could make this game even better, well here they are

- Stunts Pack for Valley (like Canyon have the Platform Pack)

-Smoke and flame effects for the exhausts, like when you change gear with a real Rally car, flames comes out of the exhausts sometimes right? So yeah that would be a cool touch

- More life for the environment, I know about the birds thing, but atleast some Splash effects when you hit the water, waterfalls with actual water falling, Sounds of birds near to a bunch of trees, Mud puddles when you pass by splashes everywhere and the car gets all dirty from it :D

- Small valley town blocks, something like those houses on Coast, but more european looking and more green around it

- More old building blocks, we know that European areas always have it's own old buildings in place, and Valley is obviously based on an european real life valley, I think that could fit really well

- A Set-up area block, such as Trucks from different teams where carry the valley cars (they could be based on the default Valley skins) camera sets, Vans from TV channels and such, and there could be Valley cars parked on it too(why? I don't know, it could add more scenery for the game, more scenery is always good)

- More funny quotes on signs and such, like this "Drive now, talk later" on the gameplay video lol

- Hot air balloons with colorful combinations or even with Ads from the other MP games on it!

-Great musics, what if Professor Kliq makes those like he did for Stadium eh? He did a great job on them :thumbsup:

- Rain mood, the dirt roads get more mud puddles, the roads are wet, things like this, without actually need to change anything on the handling of the car

- This one is more like a suggestion for all the games, 4x and 8x Anti aliasing for Nice and Very Nice Shaders, I mean really

- Modern Windmills, Rally have the old ones, Valley could have the new ones :D

- And dont forget this, the Podium (without the people of course)

And please NADEO, keep those skins on the final game, I see some recolors there and they look great! But please don't remove them like Canyon did

Also I know some of you will probably say "Get Dirt 3" or whatever, but hey, I'm just suggesting some more details for the game to make it more special, that's not bad.

Before you complain for some reason, those are suggestions, and not "OGM NADEO NEEDS TO ADD THOES" And I really like more variety and scenery for environments

Bump because obviously we will see new stuff about Valley soon, and well, some of those could be great ideas to the game :thumbsup:

(I also took a hard time trying to find the best pictures that works with the size limits of this forum so give me a credit for this pls :lol: )

To be honest, I had missed this topic the first time 'round. Some interesting suggestions. I like most of the ideas.

You mentionned both ancient and modern constructions (castles, churches, and windpower stations). Nadeo might better avoid to put a lot of ancient ones if they don't want Valley to be seen as a sequel of Rally (castles, windmills, watchtowers, ancient looking houses). Instead, they could indeed put air baloons or even better: paragliders (you'll see lots of them in the Alps, and valley really looks to take place in the Alps). I am a bit doubtful regarding the animation of those: i don't see the point of having paragliders in the sky if they don't move (and it would not look good, for instance i never liked this motionless zeppelin in stadium). And if Nadeo makes them move, it could consume calculation ressources for something that isn't that important in the game...

And again if you want to keep things realistic (although i'm not sure the goal of Trackmania is to be realistic: it's not a simracing game neither a failed one like the "dirt" things) you should avoid to mention windpower stations: not really much of them are settled in mountains (including Alps): there is usually more wind near the seas (Denmark is the perfect example: no mountains, lots of sea around => lots of wind).

If you want to stick on the modern side, you can suggest as well to include ski resorts elements such as ski lifts or cable cars.

The strange thing with the Valley environment like it is on the trailer is that it looks mountainous (lots of cliffs), but there are no mountains in the background. I'l prefer a background like this one:

Also, some fir trees would fit at best with the upper stages of terraforming.

About the rain, i wouldn't like it if it doesn't change the physics (and it shoud be decided by the mapper, not random ofc). Same for snow.



By the way, we already had a thread in the French section about the blocks, the scenery and the look of the environments... Lots of them could apply to both Canyon and Valley, and in a certain way some of them have been implemented in Canyon. Although you may not speak french, you can still watch the pictures. :P

Those are some nice ideas dude, I'm just worried about the paragliders having collisions or something for the cars, I'm not really sure if that would work out in the game

To be honnest, i think core features are more important than cosmetic aspects and i wouldn't worry at all if there are none of them. But since it's not the real life, paragliders could pretty well never land (and a true paraglider can climb up through an ascending stream).
