I doubt anyone will play this game.

Post by doctordirtpipe »

So I watched some trailers viewed screenshots & then decided to download the beta/demo, I can already tell that as soon as it comes out people will play for one day & then never play again. I say not worth wasting $20 on, it ain't worth that much either. Sorry Mania just my opinion.

Would you please explain more in detail why?
And where you would expect improvements to change your impression?
Or don't you like it at all? But only because of this, you can't tell it is the same impression for anyone else ;)

Fun fact: Nadeo is not Activitsion. The game is in beta. And unlike other developers, Nadeo usually listens to players' opinions' :) If you want something to be changed - just let others know. Everything can happen, if you let them know!

How so? This is an amazingly fun game, especially after YEARS of modern military shooter ##. With some tweaks (ui primarily) and proper advertisement this could be a very popular game.

Don't see the point of answers here (although I'm adding one lol). doctordirtpipe has posted once in these forums, just to take an ignorant swipe - hardly worth talking about surely - would be surprised if he/ she comes back.

If there is something you don't like or want changed, simply make a topic about it and try being constructive. Simply saying "This game sucks bye" isn't going to fix anything, so speak up bud :)

I logged in a few minutes ago and there were > 0 players playing...

You're wrong.

Edit:
On a more helpful note... What don't you like about the game? There are multiple game modes; perhaps if you share your dislikes we can direct you to game mode you may like.

Not the O.P, but I thought I'd throw in my thoughts related to the matter.

I havent played the game that much, but I did enjoy it, and plan to keep trying it out some more later. That said, I'm wondering if $20 is the right price point to release it at as well. I don't consider myself a cheapskate as I frequently buy pc/console releases which cost 3 times as much, and spend good amounts ($50->$100+ per) on free to plays that have micro transaction systems. But still, I found myself questioning if I would shell out $20 for this.

First reason being maps all seem rather drab (color wise). Maybe this was intentional? In order to make the players more visible compared to the backdrop for ease of vision? I understand that theres a map editor which should add variety, but all the custom levels I saw screenshots of seemed to share the same dull color palette. So sure, while the (players/plasma shot/player-names) glowy color was nice, every thing else gave a "Blah" feeling, aesthetically speaking to the first impression of the game. Even though the maps were structurally different, they started to all look the same after a good few games because of the palette. (If there are vibrant colors included, then disregard the above, as I may have had bad luck and only saw maps that looked alike by chance)

Also one thing I saw new players constantly complain about was UI & controls, on the control end, the most common was "Why isnt sprint/jump separate keys, instead of tap/hold". Not sure if that was meant to provide a uniqueness to the games controls or if it was just a byproduct of the game engine that was used to make the game (have no idea which engine was used)

So, will people who miss Quake'ish style gameplay, but want something slightly different fork over $20 bucks, sure. But for the newer kids, who may have never known the joy of a good railgun only quake match, this game might not seem "vibrant" enough, people like pretty & flashy stuff that catches their eye after all. As a player I'd say "Who cares, I wouldn't want those little brats playing the same game as me anyway", but I'm guessing the business approach would be to figure ways to draw those guys in.

Yes, many new players will cry about this because they won't understand where the game comes from, or how it was before. Before it was so that you only had full jumps, no variable jumps. That way it was a very big tactical choice wether or not to jump and risk being shot midair before sprint, or to not sprint at all. This also make you consider what positions you put yourself in, becuase you couldn't just sprint away to safety without risking the jump.

With variable jump, a lot of that has gone away, but it's still there to a certain degree. Take Elite for instance, if you as an attacker get too close to a defender or two, even that tiny jump before sprint is enough for them to land a couple of rockets on you.

Another aspect of this is so many modes were you only have 1 life. If it was possible to do a surprise sprint it would shift the balance gravely, especially for the attacker in Elite. As a defender you simply have to know wether or not the attacker decides to use stamina for sprint or not, or you can wave goodbye to any form of balance there.

So I guess you could always put it on separate keys, but you would still have to keep the same system of being in the air before activating stamina, but then that is still the same system, just with different keys for jump & stamina, and I'm fairly sure that's not what new players think is bad when they complain about this. They just want to sprint without having to jump, and that just won't do without tweaking all the other parts of the game.

Atleast this is how I have come to view the jump/stamina system, there could be other reasons behind as well for all I know.
