Got this idea, concerning a clan managment system. It would be really cool, if there would be a ingame system, where you can create a clan (as admin) and invite players to join it. To secure the system and keep the player list in the clan up to date, you need to write the invitaion/request (admin/user) and to accept it.
A few features of this system could be the possibility to click on the profile of a team member and then directly write a pm to him. Or to create squads (TM2/SM/QM).
Over this clan managment system you could be able to set up a clan ladder (in all games TM/SM/QM), additional to a player ladder.
Another nice feature could be, if this list is accessible for servercontrollers, so they do a team ranking on the servers, without needing the clan leader to create a team and to add all players.
Just my two cents, tell me what you think about this.

I think i don't understand your idea tcq but in my opinion they are on TM a button called " Group " where you can invite or give pw to your member to join this group, so it's the same clan management or your idea is different than this group ?

Re: [Maniaplanet] Clan managment
i like the idea. and yes, it's quite the same, although tcq's version is slightly more advanced. right now, you can make a group, but it's not that you can compare anything to other groups. i like it, just don't make it too advanced, we've got our own forums for that. but a ladder and a complete player-list seems like a good idea. as long as the list of all teams and their players can be seen by everyone as well.

Oh ok of course if on his idea they are more options to clan management In game it's a good idea to make the clans more attractive but we need to wait an answer from Nadeo

Re: [Maniaplanet] Clan managment
Personally I'd like something similar to quake 4 where you don't need to add clan tag to your nickname, instead there's a separate section on scoreboards for it, see here but then that could be implemented into tcqs idea i suppose.

hmm looks nice noctrum, but in the end i think i prefer to not use such a system. TM is well known these days (at least the ET part) for the wide spectrum of gimmick names and tags, and that would be a lot harder with such a system. nah, i prefer tcq's idea.

Re: [Maniaplanet] Clan managment
I'm not talking about a fixed clan tag section, it would be easily changeable by the player it just saves space, I've a short name and i struggled to include my FET tags without using an acronym, something I've had to come accustomed to in TM, because using my full length nick leaves me with no space bar my clan tag.JumperJack wrote:hmm looks nice noctrum, but in the end i think i prefer to not use such a system. Re: [Maniaplanet] Clan managment
In general, it's something like this groups, but on another level.
In TM this groups are mostly something like a place to compare your points on maps with other players (as far as i know).
My system would be able to
- compare your statistics with your team mates (as in the tm groups)
- allow clan leader to manage they're clan
e.g. - as an admin you can manage your clan members
- your list would be allways actual, because you can add or remove members
- you can use it maybe like a irc channel for the clan and acces it while playing
- maybe create a team tag, which you can only wear if you are in this clan (would prevent players
from using team tags, when they aren't in the clan). This would reduce the free choice of creating
your nick name as you like, but maybe let the leader decide if the members should wear an identical
tag or not. Maybe the ingame nick could be something like
[team tag, if you are in a clan] [normal nick] and the team tag could be disabled,if you want it
- all clans "have to register, when they wan't to be present in the "team ladder"
- all servercontroller can acces this list and make local team ladders (like team ladder on mistral)
Edit: Damn took me way to long to write this post ^^
Hope you get the idea now nano

Re: [Maniaplanet] Clan managment
I like that idea, it's really cool to have a functional and always updated team-ladder
@noctrum:
yeah, it's really annoying, if you can't place your clantag, FETtag or something else because you want your name and the tags coloured. I think it'll be cool, if the colorcodes ( e.g. "$fa0", $w, etc.) wouldn't be countet as used space. So you can't make too long names, but you can use enough color-codes to manage more colored tags in your name

Sounds alot like maniateam which makes my heart jump forward love your idea. Maybe an addition add manialink support for the cms system and all will be well for some clans.tcq wrote:Got this idea, concerning a clan managment system.
