[suggestion] TmUnlimiter

Post by JumperJack »

Since TmUnlimiter is no longer updated anymore, I thought about the possibility for NADEO to implement an ingame setting to allow blockmixing. I know that it has been there before, in early alpha stages, and if i recall correctly, you were actually thinking about the possibility to add it to the final release.

However, I could not find anything about it, not a confirmation, nor a discussion. Because of that, I would like to say that such tool would be very handy. Even though TmUnlimiter does not work anymore, since it's discontinuation, I'm sure the community will come up with another tool to blockmix (which is great, imo, since it opens up lot of possibilities if done well). Nevertheless, I think it would be so much easier and better if it would become an ingame feature.

Just my two pence, though. But I'm sure that many others will share my opinion. ;)

What about having the proposed unlimiter option as downloadable / purchaseable add'on?
Or introduce some combination of minimum limits, like rank, number of own validated maps, duration of game usage, good map ratings on ManiaExchange, etc.?

This is only to have some kind of entry level, so only those who are really interested in blockmixing get it and start using it.
It is often crazy and really awesome what can be realized, but mappers should know how to use the regular editor first very well

Personally I think that block limits have to be smothed  because some placements are very possible but the editor blocks... But i mean... From this to the total mixeable editor i think it has no sense...

I launch one year ago the MLE to "liberate the editor" ;) : http://forum.maniaplanet.com/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=9041 (in french sorry  ). So i agree with you

- Why not "unlimit" the track editor like TMUnlimiter does, and make this way of building tracks "official"?

the best maps are made with this tool, so it seems a natural evolution to upgrade the editor with an official unlimiter.
if it is official, it has consequences:
- support of compatibility
- online official glitches, and bugs (with potential request to remove them) that would distruss the user
- official complexity for mappers who would feel obliged to use it to be at the level of others

etc.

yeah, we target to release the open beta today, still ^_^

I hope for a new kind of TmUnlimiter as well! Currently building tracks in the TMNF Unlimiter and convert them... but that just takes more time... hope there will be a better way soon!
