Hi everyone !

I was thinking about some blocks that could be nice to add some dynamic in the game : gliding curve blocks

I'm not here since the begenning of the beta, but I'm trying to follow and catchup of discussions about the map editors and also buffs/nerfs and others modifications, so maybe this kind of idea has already been mentionned...

If not, well, here is my Idea : A block designed to build things like curves, or wall pannels, that could be put on floor blocks, and would be for example one block in all, or one block going in height to make some kind of "link bridges" to higher surfaces. These block would allow to start gliding instantly, just like these blue floor path that already exist in the editor, except that it would give some kind of extended control of the trajectory the player wants to follow. I'm not sure if it would allow to shoot or not, since it gives some kind of moving advantage, but I can't stop imagine how nice it could be to fight like in a skateboard bowl while gliding.

Here's a small illustration I made quickly to show you better my idea :

It could look as a kind of magnetic plate or something, that would allow you to stick a bit to it and to controle your trajectory a bit while you are in contact with it. You would be sticking to it only while your glide is triggered...

Here, an example with some platforms that Hylis showed during the Gamer Assembly, and that are supposed to be implemented later if I remember well :

I think that it could provide a nice gameplay, if not over used, since it would bring more vertical movement and speed. There could be also some other blocks, I didn't figured it out yet...

what do you think ? :)

Yeah I thought that some drawing would help understanding so I tried to do them as well as possible :)

You made those drawings quickly? Would have taken me a 100 years to make them that good ^^ Very much impressed!
Would love to see those blocks, great ideas.

Nevertheless the creation of objects is possible, like done with Stunters for TM, so players should be able to do it (although it is complicated). We could still see if there are issues regarding the gameplay, to give support.

And i would agree that is the perfect case for "enhanced"custom objects.

yeah, slippery is the right word :thumbsup:

In Portal 2, the white splash is for using the portal cannon, while the blue is for rebounce, and the orange is for speedup ;)
