Coop Building--Save track under a different author nick?

Post by pjw »

I seem to be missing something... :)

With the original Trackmania, you could create as many "offline" profiles as you wished, and when you were using one of those profiles a saved track would have that profile name as author. (This is a good thing for collaborative tracks, etc.)

With TM2, an "offline" profile is not allowed to connect to any paid content. In other words, when I make an offline profile, the only thing I can open is the Stadium beta.

Edit: I just checked, and when I make a new profile (online *or* offline) it only has access to stadium. :(

I can change my normal profile nick to anything I wish, but that nick change doesn't carry over. In other words, when I save a track, it always has "pjw" as the author, no matter what my profile nick is currently.

Is there really no way to change the author on your track (other than hex-edit adventures, which I'd rather avoid)?

Any help appreciated!

the map author shown ingame is always the login of the author, the nickname doesn't matter
changing the map author to another profile is possible by opening the map with the other profile and saving it again (you may have to modify the map once)

Like I said above, when I create a new profile (online or not) that new profile only has access to Stadium.

How do I create a new profile with access to all my games?

no way I guess, since offline profiles are pretty limited now.

If that's the case and there's really no way to do it, that's a seriously dumb move on Nadeo's part. That pretty much kills all cooperative building, since there's no way for the second person to get any sort of credit.

    Lame.

What you still can do is, give both author names with a media tracker element at the start of the map.
And you can enter them in the map details, so if someone loads the map in solo, they will see it.

But I agree, it would be very nice to have the offline accounts back as it was in TMU. It's the easiest way to give credits to other players.

Can you have a decent duo account on MX? Where both can write and edit trackdetails and comments?
