Hey, I need some help trying to salvage some old tracks from the previous games. I ran them through the command line batch calculation process and they have come out with their loop + wallride cam changes ruined (ie: instead of the internal cam the author used, it is now chase cam). Would anyone be able to tell me if there is a way to salvage old tracks that are run through the lightmap batch job?
These are tracks from both TM Nations, and Nations Forever. They are tracks by several authors from years gone by, so editing them is out of the question. Contacting the authors may also be out of the question (due to the age of some of the tracks).
Some of these are popular old school tracks and it would be a shame to see them never be used in TM2 purely because of this :\
Thanks in advance

It is new to me that the lightmap calculation affects the MT settings.
Perhaps you are now also a victim of the input key reset but?
Please reset the camera keys manually even if they already show the right value, this might help.
If not, do you have a backup of your maps by chance?
Because a comparison between old and new would be interesting

Its a known bug from the start. Loop cams and intro/outro's are broken in TMN ESWC/TMU tracks after batch conversion. TMNF tracks are fine.
Its indeed a shame that alot of tracks are lost this way. Maybe someone or a group, I was thinking Mania Exchange, should hack passwords and reupload classic maps of authors who are not active anymore.
I already updated most of my old tracks (although some people would rather never see them again
) but now im waiting for the cam2 loop twitch bug to be fixed.

Well i dont know your opinion but i guess u have a problem with hacking. In this case its about classic tracks. Every builder should know that once a creation becomes a hit it becomes plublic possession. If i wouldnt update my own tracks i would be glad if someone else did. And best in a professional way. Now i already see servers hosting old tracks they remade themselves. Better to have it made by professionals and available in one place. But its just a thought.

It's to do with tracks from other authors. Due the passwording, we can't manually change them.

What concerns me is that a member of the beta community has already raised this issue, and nobody in a position to help seems to have replied to him. He has already given a test map, and gone through a whole troubleshoot on his own with no response from a Nadeo member. While I can (and have) fix my own maps over the years, I have cannot manually edit passworded tracks, and must rely on the batch job. This weekend I went to upload 73 tracks from the original TMX (for ESWC), to my team's TM2 Stadium server. Almost 40 of them were rendered useless because of this camera issue. ~30 of them were passworded and will never be useable unless this is investigated.
What a shame there is no external tool to modify MT camera values

Re: TMN/NF -> TM2 - Messed up cams after batch job
It will always be the author's intellectual property. So opening them without permission is hacking indeed. Which is a criminal offense.GanjaRider wrote:Every builder should know that once a creation becomes a hit it becomes plublic possession.

Start living in the here and now. Build 40 new ones. Will be less trouble aswell.munkhi wrote:Contacting the authors may also be out of the question (due to the age of some of the tracks).

I doubt any trackbuilder ever protected their tracks by law. But i get your point, i just disagree.zarexz wrote: It will always be the author's intellectual property. So opening them without permission is hacking indeed. Which is a criminal offense.

And listen to the radio in the here and now and notice how many golden oldies are still played. Dont question peoples tastes.

When your name is on it, it's allready protected as intellectual property.GanjaRider wrote:I doubt any trackbuilder ever protected their tracks by law. But i get your point, i just disagree.
Dutch radio? No thanxz, becauseGanjaRider wrote:And listen to the radio in the here and now
And if they arn't old they are cheesy pop songs. Not to mention the heaps of bollocks the DJ's talkGanjaRider wrote:many golden oldies are still played.

So yeah, no, you can't argue about taste. Let's just stick to that
