Today I noticed the Steam profile graphic was changed/updated for TrackMania² Stadium and TrackMania² Canyon. It looks quite nice.

Not sure if you guys (Nadeo) to into Steam and the stuff they do, but they have recently started a Trading Card system for games. Basically, just playing the game will allow cards to drop for people to collect. There is no actual game associated with the cards, it's purely for collection. People love their Steam profiles and collecting stuff, many of us even tend to collect more games than we end up ever playing.

I think it would cool if Maniaplanet titles had Steam card drops. Not to mention people love this stuff. Yes, there are cyncial types that find reasons to dislike stuff, but by and large, it's a strong positive for any game. Almost garaunteed to increase game popularity.

If you collect all the cards then you craft them into a badge. This gives your Steam profile XP which can give you things like special showcases on your profile. Also, when crafting you get game specific backgrounds and emotes for chat that drop. With the amount of possibilites in TrackMania and Shootmania I think it would be cool to get in on it.

Ideas for backgrounds is almost a no-brainer with all amazing images associated with TrackMania. Cards could be images of cars, loops, flips, tricks, all sorts of stuff.

So, I say go for it Nadeo.


Also, any chance on updating the desktop icon? It's kind of flat looking compared to how awesome the ingame UI is.

Well, I'm not trying to be critical, but they did get carried away with all the submenus. The actual UI, graphics and such, I feel are very well done. Otherwise, yeah I've always liked the UI, responsive, clean, and sharp, the sounds match up well.

I started making some cards for maniaplanet games
