Lack of discussion regarding controller support is worrying

Post by isamu »

Hello Developers.....Hylis, etc...

Can you guys please *PLEASE* shed some light on what controllers the game will support?

1)Will it support steering wheels?

2)If so, will it have force feedback?

3)Will the force feedback be more sophisticated than it was in TM1? What kind of effects can we expect when we use our ffb wheels? Will it be a simple dumbed down rumble like last time, or will the game deliver ffb effects similar to what we find in other racing games such as rFactor, GRID, Dirt 3, iRacing, etc?

Please let us know Hylis or other devs.

This is something I'm dying to know and there is hardly any information about the game's support for wheels and other devices.

What do you guys think? Am I the only one looking forward to playing TM2 with my FFB wheel?

if you'd watched the interview slideshow of manianews (was really lousy footage, better quality will be on youtube soon) there was a white box with what looked like a steering wheel underneath a desk on the right of florent.

so i think i can state they are at least working to get it eh.. working ^^

Thanks that's interesting. What kind of wheel did it look like to you?

controller support has always been rather good in all TM's so i don't fell its anything anyone is worrying about, TMU has a very wide range of controller support upon the previous versions and with Florent stating that they want TM2 to run on older systems as well as newer i don't think it is a cause for concern as i would imagine that TM's is build on previous versions of TM
Though TM2 is using a new engine compared to the previous versions the came still remains on the same principles
Again with beta testing under way there will be a wide range of controllers being used so any issues will be raised and implemented before final release

personally I just hope that TM2 registers the 360 trigger buttons as separate so that I don't have choose between acceleration and braking...

Must admit that was very annoying, not being able to accelerate and break at the same time.... made doughnuts impossible and drifting just as hard
it hindered air control breaking to a point although minimal.... a very unwelcome difference when i moved from the original xbox pad to the 360 pad, but i think this is more an issue with the controller software its self rather than TM its self
but yet i would like to see them make some sort of work around for it in TM2

Feels pretty great :)
And if you take a look at lolomax, zooz, sandder, maruk, figos, blackcat and ..., some of the greatest TM players are using a joystick.

Thanks for the replies guys. Let's hop Hylis reads this and can address the questions regarding force feedback.

To you beta testers out there, please give us impressions of how the game feels with a wheel, and how the force feedback feels.
