Playing with friends

How do you play with just friends? I can not figure out how to invite friends to a game.

you have to make buddies ingame, then they see on which server you're playing.
Or you just use your usual chat application to tell them where you are.

You can not just create a game and invite your steam friends to play with you?

Basically it should work, but I'm not sure if it does, as there were some reports about issues with exactly this buddy system, especially between regular ManiaPlanet installation and Steam driven installation.

I fear you have to try out on your own.
And please make sure you have opened your firewalls for the necessary ports if you're hosting the game on your local machine in your network.

IVe been trying this also, looked up on the web and found some things to try, like port forwarding rules etc and have not been able to get it to work, brother is also trying to do it to also no joy. You would think that it would be straight forward to do, every other game can do it. If I have any joy I will come back and share.

Right basically im stumped, tried everything I can with still no joy. This is shocking for a game that's about beating your friends. Also noticed I cant see anyones skins, cant even tick the box in the options menu to show avatars. Wish I hadn't bought this game now to be honest. Should have stuck with sunrise or united.

The checkbox thing was recently reported, I can't tick it either, but this does not prevent me to see other skins.

I have setup forwarding for ports 2350 to 2359 and 3450 to 3459, both TCP and UDP, towards my PC IP adress.
Firewall knows ManiaPlanet as well and lets it pass.

Which internet security and anti-virus software are you using?
