I just bought the game off of Steam and installed it. It was about 650 mg, no big deal. After I installed (which went flawlessly), I started up the game. Everything was fine, it just said that it needed to be updated. It was an "optional update", but I said what the heck and I updated. It was maybe 3.5 mb, so it took about one second. When it was done, it told me it needs to restart to apply the update. Upon my restart, it said it needs an update. Same optional update, same size and everything. I knew I had already updated it, so I declined the update thinking it'd bring me to the main menu. It didn't. Once I declined it, it gave me that same "I need to restart to apply this update" message. Once it restarted, it once again said it needed to update. It continues to do this, and that's why I'm here. The only way I can play the game is if I hit "cancel" when it's connecting to the game servers. Once I do that, it says that it can't connect and asks if I would like to stay offline, to which I reply "yes". After that, it takes me to the main menu. Another problem, one I'm not sure is linked to my last problem, is that solo doesn't work. You'd think that playing offline would still allow you to play the solo maps, but maybe not. All I can do with the game is play custom maps. I've downloaded a few and they're really fun, but it only makes me want to play online even more. Another thing, is that the map creator is unreachable when I select the "simple" version. When I select it, it acts as if it's starting a new program; it shuts the game down, and I'm returned to my desktop. The "advanced" editor works like a charm.
Note: I
did re-install the game once. The install was successful each time, with no errors or anything at all. I'm running
Windows 7 (64-bit)
I'm happy to provide any information at all to anyone who can help me, other than my social security number, as I need that

. Thanks.
