[TM2] CONNECTION - connecting to servers

Hiya man.. HI !!!

just purchased stadium 2 and im having some problsm connecting to servers online. I had this problem with the BETA too, sometimes it works fine and i can connect to all servers but sometimes it just hangs and says "please wait" when ocnnecting, sits there for about 3 mins then just goes back to the server browser without even a dialogue box.

I've played nations for years and that always worked perfectly for me, and still does (played it recently) So its something specific to this new edition of TM. win7 64 bit.. Firewall is OFF so that is not the problem !! I seem to connect ok to some servers but not others im not sure what the problem is.. actually i hardly ever can connect but i did get onto a server which was very close to me earlier today and that worked ok.

Sorry if someone else raised this i did do a search but didnt find anything.. do i really need to port forward just to play this game? I never did anything like that with nations and it was always perfect..

What is your internet connection? This time is when the game download the map from the server. Maybe you have a problem here or a problem with another software.

its adsl .,. surely it shouldnty be that bad??

ive also now just forwarded ports 80/443 on both UDP and TCP, as well as 2450 and 3450 altho i gather that is more for servers.. is there any way, if im having problsm downloading the maps as u say..

is there anything i can do about that ??? to help ?

the only servers its worked on were the a-01 etc built in ones so u might be right but..

even servers in my country i cant join.. is there something other than download speed which mnight affect whether it actually downloads the maps? its like it doesnt even try to download the map.. maybe a setting or something for that??

addendum:

im not sure its maps.. while ive only been on official map servers there are plenty with those servers i cannot join

been trying for the past 3 hours and gotten onto about 2 servers only.. no combination of settings seems to work i just cannot figure it out ive uninstalled and reinstalled the game.. it all worked so easily and well in nations but for some reason im really struggling here.. any ideas?
