[TM2] OTHER: Steam version won't update to 1.30703

I have TM2:Canyon installed via Steam.

Since the new update, ManiaPlanet tells me there is a new optional update: v1.30703 (~64 MB). It gives me two choices.

If I choose "Update Now (Restart Game)", it exits the game, a Steam update dialog box opens, downloads for about about a minute, then allows me to launch the game again. When I do, it tells me there is a new optional update: v1.30703 and I get the same two choices.

If instead, I choose "Update Later", another message is displayed within ManiaPlanet saying "ManiaPlanet needs to be restarted to complete the update" and only one button "Update the game". When I click that button, the exact same thing happens as I described above (Steam updates for a minute, launch the game again, and I get the same two choices as at the start).

That is to say, I have two choices when I start ManiaPlanet and both lead to the same infinite loop.

So, I can't play the game at all.

Wild. So I kept trying a bunch more times, launching various .exe files in the game directory, and re-launching it from within Steam. It downloaded a ~20 MB update at one point, launched, and all worked.

So I can get into ManiaPlanet now.
